The head was quite overwhelmed and was short when we came in but was quickly greeted our server. She was super friendly and quick to help with recommendations.

This place is Iowa! Everything from the jar drinking glasses to the menu is well thought out. There’s toy trackers and crayons for kids to play with. The menu has a lot of choices. Not a ton for vegetarians but I enjoyed skillet cauliflower, pretzels, cooked apples, bread and cottage cheese. My husband loved the BBQ brisket sandwich (smoked 18 hours) and french fries with sides. The gift shop is adorable. Loved the selection. The overall atmosphere was fun.

Went here for my birthday dinner w/ the boyfriend. We made reservations (highly recommended if going on the weekend), and our service was quick and friendly! We made the mistake of getting an appetizer and got way too much food (hardly a problem) as we forgot how many sides the main dishes come with. Everything was delicious though and made good leftovers !

Environment was very fun Carol was a great waitress! Food was delicious, just VERY expensive? I was on a business trip for work from Chicago, thought I was paying downtown Chicago prices… I’d definitely go back! Just not everyday.

A really bad meal! We have not visited Iowa Machine Shed Restaurant since before the pandemic. It is always packed which doesn’t make it COVID friendly. However, now that things are better, we decided to drive 45-minutes to get a good meal. Oh boy were we wrong. The best thing on the table were the apples! They were surprisingly warm and delicious. The coleslaw just had a dry bland taste. The country fried chicken was not seasoned. Now the worst part of the meal were the green beans. Such a bad taste. I was looking at their motto about farmers think that any farmer who ate these green beans would think “What have I done with my life.” Overall a bad meal. The price was very reasonable though.

Nice Sunday breakfast spot. The staff was very nice and inviting and the food was good too. This place is fairly comparable to Cracker Barrel not only with the gift shop in the waiting area but the all around feel as well. With two entrees, a coffee, and a cinnamon roll it turned out to be about $50. They offer their famous cinnamon roll as a freebie next time you come in, which is a nice touch.

Got the sirloin this time. Very tough but cooked perfectly. Definitely get the Parmesan crusted pork filet. Tender as can be and oh so flavorful. Have to say food not quite as tasty as last time a couple years ago. Cute interior and little gift shop. Potato soup came out after my husband’s dinner and not enough potato but thick with flour. We would eat there again for sure. Right off route 80 and we stop on the way home from visiting family in Colorado. Upgrade your steak to the next grade like the ribeye. Sirloins are iffy anywhere but this one was quite tough. Seasoning was tasty as was a perfect medium.
