Service was very slow but decent. There were two other tables besides us. The salsa verde was good. However, the refried beans had no seasoning and not cooked in lard. They tasted like watered down bean paste. The rice also had no seasoning/flavor. For the entree, a combination plate which was okay at best.

This restaurant serves authentic Mexican food. We visited this restaurant often when they were located on Zuni & Tennessee. Always great flavor and service. It’s no different here but be aware that if they get busy it will take them awhile to serve your food. We went on a Friday around 7 p.m. and we waited about 50 minutes for our food. We waited because the food is worth the wait. So just be aware and be patient if you happen to arrive at a busy time.

Lupe’s has a very much under-appreciated dish in Mexican cuisine – Caldo de Res! It is a beef and vegetable soup in a delicious broth. I have no idea why it is not as popular as Vietnamese Pho, but if you like soup, eating it here will definitely make you a fan! The Camarones a la Diabla is also very good!

The little flat piece of burnt fat they tried to pass off as a carne asada took forever to get. I had to wait almost 10 minutes just to get my bottle of coke. I seriously couldn’t believe that they served me that horrible plate. I should’ve went to… anywhere else.

The meal was very good, had it to go, was not real fast. So ordered it and took the car thru Mr car wash and even did some vacuuming of it. And went back and still waited for another 5-10 minutes.

Good food. Probably one of the best places in Bernalillo. It is popular and very small. Only a few tables to sit but they also do to go. The service is good but slow because it is a small place with small staff. If you like local spots, this is one to check out and support a local business.
