All I see on here is complaints but I want to give a good review. I really enjoyed everything. Yes it is a bit pricey. But come on it in a nice area with beautiful setting. Beautiful harp music playing as I sip on tasty tea. I sat next to a man who was complaining about his ratio portion food. I see nothing but complaints. Don’t go if it not for you. A shout out to the waitress who always made sure I was okay offered me more tea several times and gave me a refill on the champagne and always got more water with out asking. I wish I had the recipe to the cucumber sandwich amazing

The $60+ Champagne Brunch is pricey, but fantastic. Service was exceptional and constantly refilled our boozy drinks. The carving station and made to order donuts & waffle station were the highlights. Delicious food one can enjoy and splurge before a show or for a special occasion.

Be prepared for a decent buffet complete with a side of micro aggressions. When we arrived, the “hostess” was not at her stand but briskly scampered back from talking with coworkers at the donut/waffle station. She welcomed us by barely acknowledging us and mumbling for the name on our reservation. She confirmed us and decided to chastise our party for not listing a toddler as our fifth guest. I asked about a kids section and the elderly hostess was indignant while explaining what a “high end” brunch this was and that there was no kids section. She remarked that I must’ve confused the fact that they have “plays” there with a “play” area for kids. I assured her that I had, at no time, been confused about what a play was.

Lack of transparency and accountability. Website states gratuity is not included and children under 4 eat free. We had two children both under 4, when the check came it came it was all adult pricing. We made mention of the children under 4 are free our server said no it’s actually those under 3. She revised the bill to properly account the adults and child that should have been free but still wasn’t, and when the bill came we noticed “service fee” we politely asked if that was the tip or not, and she stumbled all over her words before saying yes it is. Looking at past reviews seems like this is very common.

The restaurant was very nice and the food was good. It was not the best but good. For instance, the “scones” are closer to biskets. There is a lot of food, much more than traditional afternoon tea. The reason for the three stars was the hospitality. The service was not bad but it was not good either. It started with booking our reservation. It took multiple phone calls to confirm the reservation that I made online. The person confirming the reservation was unsure of what to do and was focused on the fact that I did not pick right away and did not call back quick enough. Since I had entered all the info online, then called the restaurant to confirm the reservation after they called me three times, I did not realize our third point of contact was so important. Once we were at the restaurant, the service was lacking. The waitress was not around very much and did not connect with our table. She also spilled every time she poured tea or water. Maybe it was an off day for her. We are not planning on going back. We enojyed oursely but there are better places for tea than this in Chicago.

Have been coming here for years prices have gone up way up 60$ per person to be exact. Was ok with this because food is good and it’s a splurge on a Sunday however I was very upset when I received the check to see they added a 24% service fee? And nearly 12 dollars in tax so 120$ was now 155$ and the girl pouring orange juice wanted a tip as well excuse me I had to go get my own food. So I really feel like this is way more than I want to pay for egg shells in my eggs Benedict!!! I just wanted to warn others of these fees!!! Especially because the brunch is half of what it was last time I went. less food more money too bad.

It was a beautiful place. We reserved a spot for a tea party. Friendly staff. Food was delicous. Several tea options. Each person gets to have their own tea pot with their tea.

After 23 years, we will not be returning for our after holiday brunch. The quality and the quantity of food has diminished. The price…$60 is embarrassingly high for what you receive. The coffee was the best tasting thing we had. So very sad and disappointing.
