This was a neighborhood bar converted to a restaurant 42 years ago. The bar is still there, it feels very classic Chicago neighborhood establishment. The pizza comparison to your big names would be Geno’s, but I like this more. The crust is a little buttery, they are not shy with the tomatoes/sauce (personal preference), we got sausage as well, and the finished product is very quality. Highly recommend.

Here for a first date. Pan pizza is their standard pie. Good flavor. Good sauce and sausage. My only little complaint is it could of used more cheese. This would of got them another star for sure. The service was great. Beer was cold. I will return to order a nice Ital dinner off the menu. Date didn’t go well.

Hidden gem. I have passed this place forever. Never thought twice about it. Finally went in. No fancy decor. Meal was very good. Really enjoyed the pizza. Service was very good. Looked at other reviews and they complained about the time it took to get the pizza. It isays right on the menu pizza will take 45 minutes. It’s pan pizza, it takes time. Will be back.

My family and I have had Louisa’s in our lives for at least 38-40 years. We went last night and it was a bit awkward. First off let me say that the waiter was awesome-very cool guy and served well. The food was good but it used to be better. What I didn’t understand was the aggressive signage about men shirts requiring sleeves! I get that and agree 100% with that for a classier dining experience but there were 2 big signs dictating that (one on each door) and it was almost comical to a point. Like how serious is this issue above all others?? The menu had a bit of a threatening aura about it too. “no substitutions” and “half orders will be charged full price” It was very “to the point” and it comes off as if the owners are sick of dealing with people and questions. Lighten up guys!

I was told it was the best pizza and Italian food around. Pizza was just okay for being that expensive. BUT THE MEATBALLS. How? Like no taste, what so ever. Even the sauce didnt help. I apologize but it’s gonna me a no for me.

Hands down, my favorite pie of all time. I decided to head back to the south side with my wife for our favorite pizza. Years ago I moved to New York and would always have friendly debates with people about which pizza was better, Chicago or NY. Instead of trying to verbally convince everyone out there how good Louisa’s was, I bought a couple frozen pies, loaded into a cooler and drove them to NY. ARGUMENT OVER. Literally every time i came home i was ORDERED to bring back a couple pizzas or i wasn’t welcome back. Pre 9/11, I even bought a couple to take on a flight and took them in carry on packaged with dry ice.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. The outdoor sign states: Louisa’s Gourmet Pizza and Pasta, so I was looking forward to the new adventure. I’d never before eaten “gourmet” pizza. Initially, upon entering, I was taken aback by the decor. I thought, at first, perhaps, that I’d walked into a little corner dive bar. The atmosphere was rather awkward. Later, after taking our orders, I was forced to politely and indirectly complain that our waiter was being less than attentive after waiting over 10 minutes to be able to request another cup of coffee. I was becoming agitated as we waited over 40 minutes for 2 individual-sized pizzas.
