About Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria
Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati’s is as rich in history as its pizza is in flavor.
Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940’s working in Chicago’s first deep dish pizzeria. He took his pizza expertise to Lincolnwood, a northern suburb of Chicago, where he and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria on March 17, 1971. Lou was known for his fun-loving character as well as making Chicago’s best pizza. Loyal patrons lined the streets on opening day for a taste of his delicious deep dish creations. Lou always thought it was funny that an Italian should open a pizzeria in a Jewish neighborhood on an Irish holiday.

We got the classic Chicago deep dish pizza which was excellent. We had not had authentic Chicago pizza before aside from chain restaurant versions. This was much better. Lots of toppings. My wife loved the side salad which was built as a shared dish. They didn’t have an individual version. Salad had a layer of lettuce, diced tomatoes, bacon bits, mushrooms and olives. and then a second layer of the same below the top layer. This is a take out only location. No seating. Staff was very nice.

Ordered for delivery and this is how our deep dish looks! We paid $90 for this?! The sauce is literally all In the middle oil running out the sides of the crust. The crust is super hard and literally dripping out of the box! We also ordered a malnatis salad which was great but this pizza is not ok!

Great pizza, great pasta. Easy to order online. Easy to pick up. This place is the spot you want to eat at. Don’t believe me check out the reviews online, or food critics. They are the best Chicago has to offer. The definition of Chicago deep dish pizza. I dove from Colorado just to eat here.

Same as the other review. Picked up a pizza. My office is around the block. Opened it up and.. also. I had placed this order like 2hrs in advance.

I love the pizza here, especially the thin crust. But I definitely want to give this location a five star review because the manager was really helpful. I ordered pizza for my movers and my family on our move day. A third-party delivery person dropped off my order to my porch, and my pizzas were missing. The manager was extremely accommodating and sympathetic, and it was awesome to not have to deal with a stressful situation since we’re already exhausted and starving from our move, he replaced them for me quickly. Really great customer service.

Well it’s a pickup only place, so I don’t know how much atmosphere there is, and the pizza was great, as always, but they need to teach the person who cuts the pizza some fractions. I don’t think that person passed either the fractions part of basic math nor do I think that the person passed geometry. Other than that, everything was fine.

I’ve never had Lou’s takeout before, many times dine-in. There is a huge drop in quality. The crust was like Wonder Bread and the cheese was gloppy, weepy and separated from the rest of the filling. Edible but that’s about it

Didn’t even go in. Malnattis is a fixture in Chicago. This place looked more like Dominoes than what I expected from Malnattis. Even had a sign on the door “We sell handmade frozen pies”. Really? From a name like Malnattis I expect a lot more.

We ordered two deep dish pizzas for delivery. They took over an hour and a half to arrive. The pizza itself was cold and undercooked. The crust, instead of being brown and crispy, was pale and soggy. I talked to the manager and he gave us a future credit. When it came time to redeem the credit, the manager said there was nothing in the system saying that we had a credit. Our order from that time was not even in the system. He was very rude and dismissive of our concern and said he could do nothing to help us. So in the end we had a ruined meal that was trash and no compensation from this business. Avoid this location at all costs. Is nothing like the original Lou’s. Poor product and management.

The place was quiet and small. I probably should have called ahead or ordered delivery. Nice little place quick in and take out. Pizza was delicious, generous with the toppings. So yum. Would recommend….probably call ahead
