Had a good lunch with the Family. Shrimp Cocktail, Campechana & Pozole. All food had good flavor. Fresh place to eat as they have AC. Waitress was nice. Had a ketchup accident . Will be coming back

If you appreciate authentic mexican food, Zapata’s is your restaurant. I have enjoyed the food for over 25 years. They may have moved locations but the food is always outstanding. It’s a family business and the owners are so nice. I am glad they survive the pandemic and stayed in business.

I really enjoyed this place. The salsa was excellent with good flavor and chunks of onion and tomato and spicy enough to be enjoyed, not bland like some places. The cheese enchiladas had a flavorful rich sauce and the beans and rice were good too. The salad was very good and included raisins which was a nice touch and added a nice element to the entire meal. Service was fast and courteous. Nice soft seating in the booths. Highly recommend!

I arrived around 8:30 and this place was already opened and was very clean, they took a long time to bring out my order even though it was just me and other 2 people in diff tables, I ordered green chilaquiles with an extra side of eggs and I I was disappointed because the chilaquiles were very dry, the egg was missing seasoning. Maybe if the chilaquiles weren’t as dry I would’ve liked them and to work on the presentation for the food because it didn’t look appetizing at all. Waitress are a little older than normally maybe that is why the attitude, but still they should work on it a little. Tamales were ok.

I have tried many items on the menu. Today I tried the Menudo. The Menudo has changed a few times over the years. This recipe is a nice dish. However, a bit salty for my taste and the tripe would be a bit more appealing if the cuts were smaller. I will mention my overall favorite is the Chili Relleno Zapata Lunch Special. This restaurant has history, it is clean throughout. The waitresses are pleasant as well. Overall, many appealing items on the menu and the portions exceed one’s appetite.

Although my group got seated immediately, other groups (varying in the number of people), had to wait a while.

The food is great, authentic & that is due to the Chefs which I wish I could tip—nowhere is it indicated that’s tips are shared with actual kitchen staff. The waitress messed up twice. When I handed her my credit card, she started walking away & told me I forgot to leave her a tip! She thought she was going to embarrass me, but instead, I ended up embarrassing her by asking her, “Do I have to tip?! She said yes. I was paying for myself & 2 others who thought she was rude. I then asked her what is the least I could leave, she said $10, I then tell her, then just add that to the bill and that’s it! BECAUSE OF THAT I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! I had been going there for 8 years, until COVID—they have changed—I am not cheap—I hate a waitress telling me what to tip her, I’ve been told her if she didn’t make enough money and she should probably go to college at night time.

Food was pretty good and portions were great. Service was prompt and with a smile. My husband had the chile Rojo which was served with plenty of meat. I had the mole enchiladas which were full of chicken but the mole was too sweet for my taste. The beans were good but I didn’t care for the rice.

I had never been to this place before but when googled someplace to eat, that’s where I was sent, there was nothing that really stood out to me, everything was pretty much all the same as any other Mexican restaurant.

Been going here for years, many many years, even before they had moved from the old place on Alessandro and Perris.
