OMG. I’ve never had Venezuelan food and had to ask what an arepa was. My meal here was ridiculously delicious. I’m vegetarian and it can be difficult to find dishes at meat centric food trucks. I got one of the build your own arepas with beans, cheese, avocado, and garlic sauce. And another that was just on the menu as vegan, and it is an incredibly tasty beet and potato salad with an acidic garlicky hot sauce to accompany it. Also: plantains! I can’t recommend this place more highly especially if you are a vegetarian.

This place is too good for Albany (sorry Albany). We have had stuffed arepas in Columbia, Mexico, and Las Vegas, and we are surprised to admit that our favorite stuffed arepa is in Albany Oregon of all places. The picture I shared is of the Venezuelana. It is stuffed with seasoned beef, avocados, black beans, and fried plantains. This is a common food in Venezuela. Don’t expect something quite Mexican though. I know it looks like a Mexican food truck, but I can tell you as a Mexican that it is a bit different but very good. It is served with the white creamy sauce which you might not know what to do with but it’s not salsa and it’s not ranch it is a garlic-based sauce. I really want everyone to go here and at least try it because the guy working in the cart told me that they might open a place in Corvallis and I would really like that to happen. In my opinion, I think Venezuelan food might be one of your favorite foods; you just haven’t tried it yet. If you haven’t tried something like oh I don’t know Guatemalan food, that’s okay! You do need to. Try this though. (Sorry Guatemala)

The empanadas are chef’s kiss. I don’t live in the area, but I make up reasons to visit just for this food truck. Unfortunately, all the other food trucks at The Barn bore me. I can have the same types of food closer to where I live, but not Venezuelan food.

Food had hair in it. Ordered empanadas and the meat had hair in it. Sauce had hair in it too. Also the quality of the food and the price don’t match. Would not recommend.

Amazing food. Just as good, the gentleman running it was so kind. He was knowledgeable and super generous.

The Barn is such a cool place to hang out and get drinks and food. Los Vecinos is a very valuable addition to their food truck lineup. I didn’t know what an arepa was, and the gentleman working was very helpful in explaining it and made menu recommendations. I had the egg scramble with cheese and ham arepa, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever had. I’ll be back for more! Highly recommend trying this food truck specifically.

Disappointed. The meat empanada was tasty, and the chicken empanada was just okay. Nothing special about the seasoning or juiciness (rather dry) of the chicken. The 2 cheese arepas had cold cheese in them, instead of warm, melted cheese, as is traditional. The empanada exterior resembles a cheap corn dog’s, and the arepa exterior resembled an English muffin.

The platanos and yucca were both so perfect. Meat was perfectly seasoned also. Felt like a home-cooked meal. Will definitely be back and recommending people go here.
