Came across this family-run Mexican street food restaurant regarded as one of the best in the Bay. Listed in Eater and SF Chronicle, and a Michelin Bib Gourmand. But don’t let that scare you – it’s untainted by this acclaim and frequented by savvy Hayward locals.

Visited recently and tried the asada quesadilla, Al pastor tacos and asada burrito. I was mostly surprised with the quesadilla as it was huge, I was expecting the generic quesadilla you can get at any restaurant. This was definitely an interesting experience as the actually tortilla had a texture that just added something different to it. I can’t say the same for the asada in both the quesadilla and the burrito, it was relatively bland and lacking in flavor. Due to this the burrito was underpowered and not worth the $12 price tag at a $5 taste. Some things can definitely be improved in these areas, not to say they weren’t enjoyable, but to actually want to come back, it would definitely be a no. As for the Al pastor tacos, they were definitely full of flavor and the choice in tortilla they use definitely matches the meat. Moving onto the customer service, it’s a bit confusing as we were told to pay before getting the food yet the couple next to us paid afterwards. It didn’t seem like all customers are treated equally, the difference maybe is they were in their mid 50’s while we’re in our 20’s but even then we both chose to dine in and seated besides each other. This may not be a big deal but when it comes down to management, it’s best to stick to one way as it may cause potential long term customers to feel unwelcomed. Definitely look forward to my next visit to try something else from the menu to provide additional insight.

Delicious Mexican food. We’re so full today but the dessert is not to be missed. Their churros and filling are just perfect.

Omg this place is so freakin good. Some of the dishes I have never heard of nor can I pronounce but they are always helpful to explain them to me. I keep trying new authentic Mexico City dishes each visit and so impressed every time!

Greatest churro of all time. There was originally another layer (3 layers total) and we ate it so fast. Agua frescas (horchata and guava) we’re also top notch. The Al pastor tacos were pretty good. Will stop here next time in driving south.

Quick friendly service, good amount of seats, and affordable ($3 a taco).

Great burrito and Carne Asada. The Churros were awesome, Carmel filled. Definitely will return to try more dishes. Nice that they have both bottles and cans of Coke. Unfortunately the food was so good we sampled before taking pictures. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Best Mexican cuisine in the area. I especially love their Al Pastor because they make it the real way, on a trampon with the pineapple on top and the fire slowly caramelizing the outside of the pork. I really like the crispy bits, so full of flavor.
