My friend and I tried this restaurant randomly after searching for high rated Mexican restaurants in the area on Taco Tuesday. Los Abuelos had super good reviews so we decided to give it a try! It’s a very open, well laid out Mexican restaurant with lots of room and creative design. The staff was probably my favorite part! They’re very sweet and attentive. We didn’t wait for anything. They had beer and margarita specials when we went, which is always a plus!! A pitcher of beer was only $10.99 which is a steal!! I’d go back for this alone. I got shrimp tacos, which were really tasty! The esquite for an app was super yummy. The portions are big, so it makes up for the price I believe. It is a tad pricey for tacos, but you get a full plate of rice and beans with it and I couldn’t even finish all of the food. I enjoyed our visit and I would definitely go back!

We dined in on a slow rainy day for the first time based off of the reviews. I’m not exactly sure how this restaurant has such a high rating because I was not impressed. The service is subpar. Our waitress name was Silvia and she had a great attitude and was very energetic however she did lack attentiveness. The atmosphere is open, with stylish decor and multiple TVs. The chips would have been better if they were warm and a bit more salted, the cheese dip with jalapeño was average, the salsa was runny and tasted like sink water. For our drinks we ordered the Tropical Bahama Margarita and I believe the V.I.P Hero Margarita, if anything the drinks were the best part due to their flavor and not lacking alcohol. They are a bit pricey though! For our entrees we ordered the Roasted Hawaiian Steak Salad and I was far from impressed. We had to ask for more lettuce due to the plate containing mostly cheese, the steak was lukewarm, lacking flavor and of poor quality. The other entree was I believe the L.A Chicken Tacos which were average, the rice and refried beans were hands down the worst rice and beans I have had at a restaurant. Overall, I will not be visiting Los Abuelos again. If I wanted to over pay for Mexican food I would prefer to chose a restaurant worth eating at. We left hungry and disappointed with our choice for lunch.

10/15/2022 Update. Went back as 1st time was really good. Unfortunately, this time was very different. Went for dinner. Restaurant was a lot busier than 1st lunch visit. Food came out warmish. Not sure I’ve ever had fajita meat and veggies the menu said being grilled that seemed boiled. Even the fajita cast iron plate was somewhat warm. The sopes plate was also kinda warm and soggy. The server took both plates as they were not good. Thought the plates would be remade – came back 2 minutes later and the original food had to have been microwaved. Service was good. Kitchen needs work. Hope they figure it out.

I only leave reviews for really bad or exceptionally good places, and this one definitely falls into the latter bucket. Service was awesome, Valentina was an excellent waitress and the manager even came by and offered my son a free coke when he saw his water was empty. The specials were great, large portions of inexpensive but strong margaritas, brisket and sausage were delicious. They didn’t rush us out even though they were closing up per the listed hours of operation. Friendly all around. My new fav place!

My husband and I came to Los Abuelos tonight and we had a great time! It was jammed packed when we got there so we had to wait a while, but the hostess was very nice and frequently gave us updates. We started with cheese dip and salsa and both were very tasty. I got the burrito and enchilada combo and it was SO much food! It was really good and I definitely have leftovers. My husband got the rice special Texas style and it was delicious. The steak in it was so flavorful and really tender. Emili was a great server and always made sure we had what we needed. We will be back soon!
