This place is beautiful. From the atmosphere to the culture it gives you. The food was delicious and great displays that made it different than other Mexican influenced restaurants. The menu is transparent with the cilantro ingredient. I am sensitive to cilantro so this is a huge green flag for me. The server we had was incredibly professional and had personality. I will definitely be returning. Thank you and welcome to Tampa Lona!

This is definitely the Best Mexican Restaurant in the Tampa Bay Area. Conveniently located in the first floor of the Tampa Marriott Waterside, this newly opened restaurant is a collaboration of Chef Richard Sandoval and Chef Pablo Salas. You can easily get there using the free trolley. There was also free 3-hr valet parking. The place was wonderfully decorated. Service was good. The best part was the food. We ordered the Fish Taco and Shrimp Taco. Both were freshly made with the best ingredients. I will definitely come back to try the other food in the menu. Prices were reasonable – definitely much better than the newly opened restaurants in the Channelside District. We spent around $30 each including drinks and dessert.

When I heard that a new Mexican spot in Tampa opened up, I HAD to come and check it out. I had high expectations based on everything that I had read online about the restaurant, food, and the location. They advertise that there is free 3 hour Valet if you are dining at the restaurant – well, you better hope that the hotel isn’t busy because I tried to park valet and was told “we are not allowing locals to park here” and that they can stop allowing valet at any time and the free valet is only during off-peak hours (mind you, I went on a Tuesday) so I can only imagine how it will be on a weekend. Walking in, it feels like you’re transported into a different world, the decor and atmosphere is really top tier – almost giving a Miami vibe. We started with the guacamole – it’s different than your traditional mashed, as these were more chunks of guac and had alot of lime (which I like). The chips had enough salt and the salsa was different – almost a little too much tomato, and I feel like it was missing the smoky flavor that I had read about online. I ordered the Margarita Anejo – it was super sweet and for $16 I feel like it could have hit a bit more tequila and less ice. For our entrees, we got the skirt steak fajitas and steak tampiquena. The steak was delicious and cooked perfectly. For the fajitas, the flour tortillas were a bit cold and not as soft as I would have liked. For dessert, we tried the Tres Leches – the flavors were there but I feel like it was a bit dry for my liking – tres leches is traditionally super moist. It took our waiter almost 30 minutes to bring us our check / bring our cards back to us. Understand that this place just opened but our dinner lasted well over 2 hours – with the last hour of us finishing our dessert/waiting for the checks. I think that this place has potential, it is a bit overpriced for what you get, but I’m excited to see the direction this place is going!

I really enjoy mezcal so I was excited to hear we were getting a tequila and mezcal bar with a wide selection so close to home.

Honestly, some of the best Mexican food and craft cocktails I’ve ever had. The people behind the bar took making drinks and made it an artform, not just trying to pour and get them out as quickly as they could. True mixologist. And it tasted like the chefs made the food with the same love and pride in their work.

Excellent food and wonderful service. The bar tenders are the perfect combination of professional and personable. I appreciated their service and the food was top notch. I highly recommend if you are staying at the Marriott Water Street Hotel.

Nice place with a great atmosphere and a large selection of tasty Margaritas and specialty drinks! Good service and drink suggestions by the service staff. Food was average, with no major pops in flavor, nothing really to write home about or crave to go back. 4 of our plates came out cold, so they rewarmed them up. Price points were on the higher side, but what do you expect being in S. Tampa. Go for the drinks and atmosphere, not the food!

We were welcomed for our reservation warmly by Alexis, and Joshua took excellent care of our group. The food was fantastic, and the drinks were even better. Highly recommend the Private Cask Dobel Anejo Margarita!
