I really wanted to like this place. So in order to accurately get a comparison of how good the BBQ meats were I ordered a 2 meat plate (and added a 3rd meat) at HEB last week and ordered exactly the same here at Local Smoke BBQ. I ordered pulled pork, brisket and sausage.

The bbq was dry, lacking flavor. The brisket sandwich was super small. The potato salad could’ve been better if they potatoes were a bit more tender and chopped more small and more of the ingredients added. The peach cobbler was ok. Definitely a big disappointment and waste of hard earned money.

If the prices were about 50%lower it’d be an alright place to get BBQ if you lived within walking distance and didn’t want to drive. The meat on the pulled pork sandwich was acceptable but not good, and wasn’t made any better by the severe lack of sauce on the sandwich. It was also odd that they used fresh jalapenos instead of pickled considering the lack of pickles but maybe they’re just not for me.

I got a pulled pork sandwich while checking out the Hub location and was very underwhelmed. The pork was dry and did not have much smoked flavor at all. The mustard slaw on the sandwich was very tasty, I really enjoyed it, but it was not enough to save the sandwich. Especially considering the price!

We got the two meat plate (brisket and shredded pork), a couple extra sides, and an order of the pork belly. Overall, it was good – the bbq and brisket were juicy, but baked beans were a little underwhelming and Mac n’ cheese was a little too loose for my taste. I think the biggest issue, though, was the price. With a drink, it was nearly $50. You can go to Pecan Lodge and Ten50 for less, but I guess they’re banking on suburbanites looking for a good option in their hood. still, we’ll probably be back.

The jalapeño corn bread was as hard as a rock. The most disappointing part was the giant rib sandwich I paid $30 for and was told there was no bones in it had several small bones. I almost choked and gagged to the point I couldn’t even eat it. Horrible food and experience.

Terrible experience from the food to the service. My wife ordered a sandwich but wanted to change her mind (even before I paid) but the guy behind the counter said it was too late. Never got a text message when our food was ready. Sandwiches were cold. Fountain drink machine was turned off before we finished eating. If I could give zero stars I would!
