A beautiful view and porch, friendly staff, and simple yet tasty food. The service alone is worth visiting for!

The staff were great but it took an unusually long time for someone to even ask us for drinks. The place could be updated. The food wasn’t anything to brag about, especially for the price. Don’t order the potato wedges. Tasted like something from a public school cafeteria. The scallops where great and the view of the river was nice. Shrimp just didn’t taste good. I wouldn’t recommend eating here.

We go here once a year on our way through town. We have always had great meals. To be fair, we only get mussels and beer. They have a deck that faces the river that has a lively local happy hour. Not sure why the bad reviews. I guess you should avoid the touristy lobster and stick to the mussels.

Staff was nice and very friendly and I believe they do the best they can with what they are given. Food was mediocre at best and portions were quite skimpy. We had family visit the area and we’re looking for that one local restaurant the could give that Maine lobster meal experience. Unfortunately this was not the experience we had hoped for. I would not recommend this place if it were the last seafood restaurant on the plantet. Our opinion is that The Lobster Trap is more like a tourist trap.

Got there and view was beautiful. First red flag was they don’t have half of the beers that are on the menu, so I ordered a soft drink, follow on that in a minute. Ordered steamed mussels as an appetizer, they were great, so we figured that dinner would be too. Entree’s came out and looked good. Wife’s lobster was cold as were her baked potato and broccoli. Mine were also cold. Soft drink cup sat empty at the end of the table sinceswe we finished the mussels and thetwaitress who went MIA for a while never once asked if I wanted a refill. So we paid over $100 for cold food and crappy service. NEVER AGAIN.

We had an awesome waitress, but I didn’t think the lobster was anything special. Later, I found out that I just prefer crab to lobster. For anyone who has never had an entire lobster, just don’t. Just the tail will do from now on. All those extra organs and such are simply unnecessary. Lobster rolls are the best thing in Maine, but the price seemed a little steep here. I realize most of my review does not pertain this actual business, but to the business of lobster as a food. The restaurant had an awesome view of the river, so definitely sit out back!

Not really impressed. The rolls were fresh out of the microwave and my coffee tasted like instant. There was no real butter only spread in limited quantity. The waitress never offered to freshen my coffee which remained 1/2 full the entire meal including desert. We had to ask to have the A/C turned down because it was cooler outside in the 85 degree heat. Will not be returning. This was written by Cynthia’s husband Carl
