After recently eating at Hyderabad House in Indianapolis we tried here. The staff is pleasant and the food was well prepared. I was disappointed there was no mango lassi but rather a mango shake- not the same.

We went to the Lights of India this past Saturday night for the very first time. Our family was very pleased with the excellent authentic food, great service, and the extremely friendly staff. We tried & shared a variety of items on the menu, and everything was very tasty (my kids are very picky eaters, and they both loved the food). We’re definitely going back to try their buffet.

Great vegan optionsto try. The food hit the stop multiple days while on my trip for work. The service is very attentive and friendly. Try the mango juice with your meal, it is simple and very refreshing just as the menu description lists. If you enjoy Indian cuisine, Lights of Indian in Downtown South Bend is a great restaurant to try a couple times.

we were there for a buffet lunch so no comments on portions etc. its the usual buffet seen in many of the midwestern India restaurants. many similar things are served. the quality of good and nothing exceptional though! so only 4 stars. the staff was very welcoming and very helpful in understanding our needs. would definitely visit again and also recommend to anyone who want to try Indian cuisine in the area.

I have never left a review for a restaurant before but I felt this to be my duty as I believe I need to do my part to make sure no one will have to have this devistating experience.

Went here for the lunch buffet, which was very good. I wished there were other lunch options, because the buffet was a lot more than I could eat just for lunch, and I ended up eating way too much – that’s a good “problem” to have, though. I loved the options they set out, which included dessert and appetizers as well. Lots of chutneys/sauces to try with your main dishes, or whatever you like them with.

We were there for dinner and our food and service was excellent. From my own experience, food freshly cooked rather than sitting food from a buffet has always tasted much better. If you had a poor experience from a buffet, why not give it another chance and order from a menu instead of reheated food? Don’t get me wrong, i have been to several buffets and liked some of them, but it does not compare to an order to cook dish. We ordered the Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tika Masala and the Shrimp Tandoori Masala and were very pleased with our dishes. Great flavors and generous portions too. What I like about the Chicken Tandoori was the juiciness of the meat while properly cooked. Only thing i would suggest is for the Shrimp to be a bit bigger in size, but the taste was very good otherwise. Will recommended to others and will definitely go back.

We (7 of us) were served by a very nice woman, however that is the only positive I can offer. The food was far below acceptable for Indian food. Samosas came out cold, some entrées lukewarm. Salt shaker was grimy and the salt was solid inside (table glass was also kinda grimy). I had the lamb curry and it was rather bland especially for medium spice, even after they re-made it to not be lukewarm. Granted this is New Year’s Day, but if this is the effort they’ll put in for NYD then stay closed and don’t hurt your business?!

This is a very good restaurant to eat at. They have very good food, great service, very easy to understand, very talented cooks, very clean all the way around, very quick delivery drivers, great prices. Stop in when you can. They have buffet as well for dinner. Better than India Garden. All day buffet on sundays. Very friendly. We will return soon and frequently. Stop in and see for yourself.

I hate to post such a negative review, but diners should be aware. I arrived at 1PM for the lunch buffet and it was nearly empty. Several vegetarian items were too salty to eat so the owner remade the dishes, eventually making them edible, but not palatable. The naan was completely undercooked, but since they were able to remake two dishes, I carried on. I lifted up the second piece of naan in the basket to find a baby fly/fruit fly laying, barely alive, on top. I notified the owner, who said that they spray for insects weekly, but I obviously stopped my dining experience there. I went to the counter where I paid full price for something that was both inedible and unclean. Lastly, the owner’s children were terribly loud and disruptive, and put their hands all in the fennel seeds at the counter. I notified the health department when I returned to my car. Worst restaurant experience in a VERY LONG time.
