What an amazing meal. I’m from the south and this is probably better than any meal I’ve had in restaurants in the south. Well seasoned and cooked. You can feel the love in every bite. I had the meatloaf, collard greens, and red beans and rice. Would recommend all of them to anyone! Keep up the great work!!!!

First time customer. Ordered the catfish dinner with Mac and pinto beans. 7 up cake. I would have rated it a 4 but the catfish was a total fail. Funny smell and soft skin. Was it the oil or bad fish? Everything else was pretty good. Please review your sea food quality or/and the oil you are reusing. On carry outs fish in a tight plastic container is a fail. The fish sweats and becomes soft. Consistency is so important for the longevity of food service. You can’t rely on “we got it half right”. So much potential, get it together and be consistent in the quality. The 4 was because the beans were a little to salty and the cheese in the Mac. Not smooth but better than most. Mac should have creamier texture.

They food was good in the beginning. I went in the other day to spend 400 on my family but I had to leave. Our girl don’t work there no more. I call her the cake cornbread girl . I still got something and my chicken wasn’t done at all. My cornbread was dry with no sugar. Like it been sitting for about 3 to 4 days. The new cook is terrible only thing good is the Mac and the food out the can. The old lady cooking is under cooked. Don’t eat there if that black man or the cornbread girl not cooking don’t buy go to Auntie Betty’s on grand river and evergreen. My wife got sick after that not cook damn chicken. Can you say lawsuit.

I ordered the perch dinner And it’s my first time going there and I will not be going back. The perch was dark and overcooked to wear you only taste the corn mill you don’t taste the fish. I have never seen macaroni and cheese look so Bad I Don’t even Know what kind of cheese this is Everything was clumpy that macaroni was overcooked not good I think popeye’s has Better macaroni. The greens is OK it was just too salty and the corn bread was dry as soon as you picked it up it crumbled. One of the strawberry cake but when I got there they said all they had was banana pudding and that’s not what I wanted but I went ahead and took how everything tasted I was scared to eat the banana pudding but the banana pudding was decent but it was mostly putting with only 4 cookies. I love a lot of cookies and my banana pudding and I see why my son ask me to add more cookies than usual when I make mine….. It was so much pudding after I took the 4 cookies at the top I didn’t want it anymore. I spent almost $30 it was $27 in some change and I’m so upset because I could’ve went anywhere and got a good meal and no this place does not have good food I feel sorry for the people working there though because they looked hot and sweaty.

Waited about 30 minutes, food was good but one of the workers talked on the phone and was playing in her hair. Same girl that took my order took my money and made my plate because the other turned to Netflix and sat down. Portion sizes are very small for the price. Not friendly.

I wanted to like this place because it’s so close. I got food twice to try to give it a second chance. Unfortunately, it seems their cooks/chefs are inconsistent in their cooking methods and flavors which makes people get different versions of the same food. In order to maintain a stable traffic of customers they can’t have one chef cooking the food this way and another cooking it that way. The macaroni should always taste the same, the chicken should always taste the same. For ANY food a customer buys there should be a consistent flavor and texture each time they come back. It seemed like there was a cook that actually put love into their food one time and the next one just was there to get a check. When it comes to “soul food” you cannot be in the business just for the money because people can tell by the taste of your food period and it seems as if the owner was just like I’m going to start a soul food restaurant because I want to make money and put just anybody behind the stove as long as they make their money. I feel like these good ratings are from people who just happened to come on a good day because the right person was there or they were paid to give a good review. I unfortunately will not be buying for a long time if at all because you never know what you’re going to get. (This review is a delayed one)

I have been here a few times to ensure the review is accurate. I usually get the chicken wings ( great seasoning) or catfish with mashed potatoes (which are real & lumpy), green beans (seasoned very well), and macaroni & cheese (very tasty). I tried the greens, but they were too vinegary. The desserts are not as tasty as I would have hoped. I tried the 7 up pound cake (little taste and extremely dry) and the peach cobbler ( it’s kept in the fridge so it’s cold; meaning that crust isn’t crispy…I love hot peach cobbler!). They’re newer, so I think they’re trying to get the feel. Update: The food isn’t BAD, but the green beans were very salty, and yams were not very sweet. Tried to call to order, but there was no answer. Went online and pricing different (more) than in person. I hope they fix that immediately. No air, so it’s extra hot inside on hot days, so they have door open; flies get in, not very sanitary.

Service was great. I got there just before closing. atmosphere was inviting. I was unable to order what I thought. I would enjoy it. It was catfish they were out. Got my food I order home, and it looked great. Season was overpowering meatloaf and my greenbean mashpotatoes gravy. for my taste buds, I need to get what i normally order at soul food place. Now I will say this the smothered pork chop, my wife got you, tell it fried prefect i think it was gravy made season a little over power.
