Lovely atmosphere. High tables and chairs are my fav and were available here next to big panes of glass to see outside. We ordered raw oysters and I had take pieces of shell out of my mouth after eating them. Not great but still good. The shrimp gumbo was very delicious and a bit spicy. I ordered a drink made with tequila and they substituted vodka for me. Also delicious. Service was fantastic. Fair prices.

I won a gift card here so I thought I’d give it a try this past weekend. That was my first time trying fried alligator and it was really good! The cocktail sauce paired well with it. I also ordered the avocado salad and the server said it was a smaller portion, which is why it only had two of the three shrimp, but it wasn’t fully a half-sized portion? I got charged the full price so I was a little confused by that, but I went with it.

A nice seafood restaurant but a bit disappointing. Started with the Cajun Shrimp Cocktail appetizer that was excellent. My main course was their Crawfish Etouffee. Way too soupy, way too salty with a hint of dirt flavor… the worst version of etouffee I have ever tasted. Not a good first impression. Service was friendly and prompt, so I’ll give them another try another day.

WARNING, THEY ARE NOT OPEN!!! DO NOT ORDER ONLINE FROM THIS LACK OF SERVICE PLACE!!! We ordered to go and paid online for a family of 4 while on vacation. We went to pick our food up at the time given, but when my husband arrived there was a sign on the door stating “closed due to lack of service employees”. We paid, which wasn’t cheap, and no food. So, we went to Doc’s and ordered from them. So, so, so disappointing and out 100+ bucks. If I could give a 0 star I would. Be responsible and update your website people!

Update : after a few visits, based on how much the local community loves this place, I have learned to stick with the fried food. It has become one of my favorite places in the Highland Lakes area. The shrimp and trout steal the show for entrees. Pepper jack hush puppies are a unique twist on a classic. And the margaritas are some of the best in the area. The food is great if the right choices are made. The experience can be challenging based on the hit or miss staff. Previous review: Everything about this was bad. The staff was uninformed or uninterested, probably a combination of both. And based on my experience, it starts with the owner and management. To be fair, the vegetables were fresh so I will give credit for that. I will also acknowledge that I requested to sit on the patio and I was the only person on the patio. I arrived last Saturday afternoon at a time that it was not exceptionally busy and there was adequate staffing. I waited 10 minutes or so for my server. She took my order and repeated it to me. I asked for the wifi password, she said she would have to find out what it is. About 20 minutes later she returned with the wrong order and no password. She said she would have my order corrected. I explained that the WiFi password is important to me because I needed to download documents. Another 15-20 minutes, she returned with the correct order but no password. The shrimp on my order was supposed to be grilled and was not but I was going to let it slide. The food was completely without character or flavor. I just wanted to eat and leave as quickly as possible by then. She stepped back out and gave me the incorrect password and my check. I was billed for a full po’boy instead of a half po’boy that I ordered. My waitress had stepped back in before I could let her know. Fed up with it all, I called the restaurant and asked for the manager instead of waiting for my server again. He apologized and said he would have to call another manager on the phone. I told him I didn’t want anything comped, I just wanted to be billed correctly. He also said he didn’t know what she had rang up or why she didn’t ask him for the password. He explained that their system was complicated. When he returned from correcting my bill, he asked for my phone number so the owner could call me. It has been 8 days with no follow up. I noticed that my Map records showed I was there for over an hour ordering a sandwich and dealing with incompetence and excuses for mediocre food. Never again.

Actually came two nights in a row while staying at Horseshoe Bay! The food was amazing. Had the blackened scallops the first night, and my guest had the blackened red fish. Both were grilled to perfection, and the seasoning did not overpower the seafood. The next night, 7 us came. Was seated quickly around 7 pm. The charbroiled oysters were a huge hit with everyone. Again, everyone really enjoyed a variety of grilled dishes.

Great food. Love the Avocado salad, greens are always fresh no brown lettuce the Avocado slices are plenty, flavorful and perfectly ripe. The servers are nice, good attitude, sometimes a bit too busy. The restaurant is very clean, comfortable chairs.

Food used to taste great but now smaller portions and the fried Trout tastes like sugar. Red sauce is sugary ketchup missing horseradish and lemon juice.. Waitress forgot to bring red sauce for the terrible Calamari so I got up and asked for some. Rude response from staff who avoided me and didn’t want to help. Waitress nowhere in sight. No atmosphere here just a bunch of people with money to burn and no taste buds.

Terrible food! We ordered scallops and they were cold. Their sweet potato fries are straight out of bag. Both the scallops and fries were thrown on to the plate carelessly. Oysters were extra chewy we could barely swallow. Food is overpriced and bland. Save yourself the terrible experience.
