I am a big fan of Vivian Howard and her new restaurant Lenoir was really a treat! The food was absolutely delicious. My friend said her steak was the best she has ever eaten, and my chicken was fantastic. The portions are a nice size. Make sure you get the fried collards and the lemon sponge cake- amazing! Sorry no pictures of the sponge cake- we ate it too fast! Thanks Vivian for a great place. Can’t wait to try Hot and Handy.

Very excited to eat at Lenoir which is owned/operated by chef Vivian Howard. We made reservations to ensure we would get in.

On a 5 pt scale, dinner at Lenoir is a 4.6. My scoring methodology weighs food quality 65%, service 20%, and ambiance 15%. The ambiance achieved a high score. The white shiplap walls are clean and inviting. The large bar encompassing over half of the dining room is beautiful and the noise level was pleasant. Acoustics were taken into consideration in the ceiling materials. Service achieved a perfect score. Tanya, our server, was excellent. She effortlessly demonstrated an understanding of the menu with enthusiasm. She continually checked on us and brought out food and drink in a reasonable time frame. The chef should be proud of how well she articulates the menu. We had the strawberry salad with ricotta. The only thing we would have liked more on the salad was the pecans. The catfish was excellent. It was breaded, seasoned, and fried to perfection. The one thing that detracted from a perfect food score was that by the time you get to the second piece of fish that is sitting in the tomato/ okra stew, it becomes mushy. I love a good crispy fry, so it’s too bad that it was detracted from the stew. In the future, I would ask to have it deconstructed. The Spittin’ Image was an excellent bourbon cocktail.

Very cute eclectic little restaurant with an interesting menu and nice bar service. Butternut squash casserole was delicious. Cheese melted on top and bits of sausage running throughout. Large enough for 2 to share as an appetizer. Cornbread fritters also very good. Tomato pie, a side but we did as an appetizer, was really good. Pie crust bottom with tomato etc on top. Can’t say the flavor blew me away but it was subtle and delicious. Steak was also tasty. Would definitely go back again.

Huge island shaped bar with an innovative cocktail list. This restaurant has some of the best vegetable dishes you have ever had, but don’t stop there, the huge Pork Steak/Chop and fish dishes will have you coming back again and again like we did the last 8 times I have dined at Lenoir.

have watched all PBS episodes; purchased two cookbooks; we’re fans. having said that, we wanted to check out the restaurant in charleston. so disappointing. basically a loud bar with seating around the perimeter. service was not great. if I had to guess they’re short of staff. hostess was serving food. the food was a huge disappointment. my wife had the chicken which was fine; nothing amazing. I had the shrimp dish which was awful. we’re in charleston of all places and I think the shrimp were frozen from the grocery store. first picture are peel and eat shrimp from O Bar. second are the ones from Lenoir. the food hasn’t been touched yet. squash casserole was mostly cheese. not great.

Although it may be small, it’s mighty with its staff. Had several evenings we sat and ate at the bar. The steak burger was fabulous. Their signature Old Fashioned was the best I’ve had yet. The bar service while we visited was friendly yet quick and professional, thanks to Tyler, Talia, Michael and Roderick. Fantastic job. We’ll be back!

Looooved our dinner at Lenoir this past June. We made a reservation, but ended up eating at the bar… Michael was incredibly helpful, attentive and had great suggestions… Food was fantastic as were the cocktails! The Greens & Grits were outstanding as were the Mess of Greens… the scallops and Shrimp toast were also excellent. Highly recommend.

Had an amazing time at the bar having crispy collard greens and cocktails. The drink and beer list is great and the bartender Tyler is on his A game at all times. He checked back and made sure our drinks were perfect. One of the friendliest bartenders in the city.
