Everything was near perfect on first visit. Excellent customer service and food was phenomenal. Haven’t had great soul food like this in a minute! Definitely one of my favorite spots in CBUS for the time being and will be going back ASAP. Also Black-Owned!!!

Went about a year ago. When we got there, they didn’t have most of the food on the menu, including chicken. I got something completely different from what I ordered, and the gravy was very salty and seemed to be out of a can. Some people had bowls of sides that were much smaller than the ones others had at our table. To top it off, they were having an anniversary party for the manager and the food they had set up was catered. That tells me everything.

Presentation is HUGE for me. It looks like the chicken tenders are over cooked. The okra barely had breading on it. And the cheese on the burger looks cheap. I’d go with Kraft singles before that. The greens are still crunchy and salty. The Mac looks good but taste bland like it needs salt. Not my type of mac. It takes ENTIRELY too long for food to be ready and look like this. And my whole order wasn’t ready after ordering online and waiting 55 minutes. Technically more cause I showed up 10 minutes later. Guess you can’t trust something just cause it smells good. I’ll order donatos or subway next time. Also I got no condiments although I requested it in my order. So thanks for the dry burger and having to ask for sauce for the dry tenders.

I will rate at least one star, not a great experience should be really a no star. Myself and a friend thought we would check it out. The place does not compare to the advertising from website. What a disappointment. We had to ask for help…the cook was on the phone told us to give him a minute….very sleepy he was, told us to hold on. I placed an order for gumbo and a drink, gumbo was good just missing shrimp. My friend would not order anything because she said he looked to sleepy to prepare her food. So she refused to place an order. I got my bowl of gumbo with no eating utensil, I had to ask for that. My overall experience at this establishment was horrible. Hopefully they will hire more cooks and get this place going…the atmosphere is nice. Other than that, I will not come here again. At least until, they get the help that’s needed. Best wishes to upgrade, please hire more staff. Help is needed.

We sat and waited on an appetizer for an hour that was soaked in oil and not edible whatsoever. Our food took even longer. I loved the music however, it is just a distraction from you not actually eating. Food was not good. Our server continuously forgot our order. The wait on food was so long tables kept walking out. I traveled 2 hours to eat here and I am extremely disappointed. The website is amazing, but the actual place is a definite NO GO

The band was great. The food was mediocre. The sides were served lukewarm. The macaroni and cheese lacked cheese and tasted terrible. The staff didn’t know what foods were available and confused Whiting fish with White meat chicken. The wait staff could use an upgrade to their appearance as they looked a bit sloppy based on the type of establishment. After I left, I called and asked for the name of the band and the staff member who answered was rude. If I return, it will be for the band only.

Had lunch here last week with a colleague. I had meatloaf while my colleague had gumbo & fried tomatoes. The food was great, our server was friendly and I loved the selection of music they played—classic smooth jazz. This location doesn’t have much visibility as it’s at the corner of two minor streets. I hope they can make it as I liked the vibe of this place and wouldn’t mind coming for drinks when they have live music. My one complaint is it took 90 minutes for lunch-I guess the food is all made to order, but our waitress also was pretty slow in giving us the Bill and then coming back for payment. Hopefully they’ll smooth out their service as not many people can take 90 minute lunches and I liked this place!
