My wife and I stopped in La Tropicana for the first time ever, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience for us. The food was delicious, the restaurant was beautiful, and the service was impeccable. Can’t wait to go back to this historic Lawrence family owned and operated business!

Nice family owned restaurant with excellent food, generous portions and great prices! Home made chips were delicious, we had to get some to bring home to Illinois!

My husband and I had great hopes for this out-of-the way Mexican restaurant. The decor and atmosphere was colorful and charming. However, the wait for our food was very long, especially considering that our orders were pretty simple. The food was lukewarm and unimaginative when it arrived at our table. So disappointing. I was hoping for a new favorite in Lawrence!

I love La Tropicana – good food, good Rita’s, cold beer, friendly service – you can’t go wrong. Secluded patio for outside dining. Just across the river from downtown Mass St – 60sec down the street from Johnny’s.

30 dollars for 2 paper plates, and plastic to eat off of. There must be a tomato shortage as you can see in the photos only one small piece for the tacos, and I small piece for the burritos.

Very friendly and considerate staff. Family style resturant. Quaint decor. Food was very good. Prices are very reasonable. Portion size matched the pricing. House salsa was ok. Wheelchair access is good. Handicap parking available.

Good food and service. The food was way more authentic than a lot of Mexican restaurants I thought. Hit the spot after taking the mountain bike for a spin

We were attracted by the fun and vibrant restaurant which is why I’m so disappointed that the experience didn’t add up. We spent $55 for two meals, chips and salsa (you pay for the appetizer) and two drinks. The menu barely lists the prices of things and the waitress rings your card up without telling you the amount (i take fault for not asking before running it). $55 on Mexican food. I was expecting the quality of the food to be pretty good considering we paid so much. Our food was served on paper plates and we received our silverware in a plastic bag. The chips are so hard that I wouldn’t doubt if they were left out. I’m unsure what the experience normally is but we were super disappointed. We won’t be going back or recommending.

A true local gem! Great food, wonderful service, great prices, generous portions, tons of outdoor seating, AND they actually know what vegetarian means. Best Indian tacos in town (the last Thursday of the month) and their perfect margarita is to die for!
