This was an amazing experience. Robert was an wonderful chef and host. He opened up the restaurant just for us for a special celebration meal. The lobster bisque was delightful, the wine was in a class of its own, and the fondu was phenomenal. The homemade marshmallows in the chocolate fondu was the perfect way to end a delightful night. Thanks!!

Stumbled upon this place by accident. Was out at the local stores and got hungry. My company wanted a coffee shop, so we took off walking down the street to where she knew a coffee shop was. While in that coffee shop I asked if they had food, they said no, its down stairs. This man stood up and said im going there now to open up. So we walk out the door and follow him. He begins to accend down some stairs on the side of the building. Unlocks the door, we walk in and we see a bar some small table that are about chest high and have stools. He said have a seat any where while I open up. We sat our selfs. He put on some music, turned on the lights and I just felt this comfortable warmth come over me, like this place is nice. Not nice like it had marble floors and gold door handles but nice as in good people, good food, and good vibes. We later found out the man was the owner. He gives us a very shirt list if items and asked what we wanted to drink. From all the wine decor I could tell whine was probably an important part of its identity, however I dont drink much so we ordered sodas/pop. While taking the owner, which I think his name is Robert, he brought us some sample soups. I have never in my life ordered a soup but after sampling the soups, thats what I did and so did my company. He goes in the kitchen and we talk. We can hear him back there working magic. Shortly after he brings out our warm bowls of soup. He then brings out a plate of some bread, which I already forgot what he called it, but it was amazing. Not too soft and not too hard. As we ate our soup I was suprised that I ordered soup and that it was very good. We finished our soup in no time. We chatted with the owner and he was very nice and very polite and very knowledgeable about how to prepare and cook food. He had a love for it. We got up to leave and I looked the place over one more time and took in the very old tile floor, the wooden walls, the dark but comfortably lit lighting and enjoyed it all. I rarley give 5 stars but I am giving this place 5 stars. Step out of your burger box and try LA Sous Terre!!!!!

This place was hands down amazing. Robert is such an amazing cook and very kind and attentive to every detail of the dining experience. Four course meal made fresh to your plate. The salad was fresh and crisp, the soups were delicious, the beef was fall off the bone tender and melts in your mouth perfectly seasoned and beyond delicious, dessert was cheese cake that was so good words can’t describe especially paired with the wine. Everything dish was paired with a wine that made the experience whole and the portions were perfect, we left full and satisfied. The atmosphere was great for a romantic evening that we were going out for, highly recommend for a great date night or special occasion

So I was pleased with my visit to LA Sous Terre. Robert the owner, is a classy guy who is full of life and passionate about his establishment. Me and my wife had soup and a sandwich. Mine was a turkey and hame on toasted marble wry paired with the lobster bisque. It had a good flavor without being fishy, which a lot of restaurants struggle to do. All the ingredients were fresh, and Robert was on top of it all. The only reason he got 4 stars instead of 5, is that I’m reserving that last star for his 4 course dinners he provides with reservations. I’m excited to try the dinner, and believe he will earn the final star.

It was a small break but I really appreciate to discuss about wines around a good soup.

My extended family enjoyed a lovely lunch in the cool and relaxing atmosphere of the restaurant below street level on West Pine Street. Jazz music was playing in the background and the food was great. The chef was able to meet my food allergies and still serve me along with my family. We will be back. My mother said it was the best black beans soup she has ever had and my sister loved her lobster Bisque.

La Sous Terre is one of my favorite restaurants to do lunch. The food is consistently good, and I love the ambiance; From the brick walls, to the dim lighting and candles on the tables, to the art for sale, it’s a very unique and charming spot.
