I am always looking for the best Menudo in town and testing new locations. I go out of my comfort zone to locate good menudo. This place is not the place. It was lacking taste. My intent is not to insult anyone. I may be way off, but it was neck to neck with Juanita’s canned menudo with a slight added spice to it. I am confident that ordering this with an excruciating headache, this menudo will do the job. Menudo is tricky and we all have our biases and preferences, I understand.

First time going to this restaurant it was really disappointing we got the fish al mojo de ajo fish wasn’t cooked all the way. We needed salt and we couldn’t find a salt shaker that actually worked one even had rust in the inside.

We went in fir the first time . explained to waitress that it was out first time there. Service was outstanding. Food was absolutely delicious. Our service was so good that we figured that it was because its was out first time.. Since then we have revisited La Jefa several times and the service continues to be great. We have tried a different plate overtime we visited. Recommend La Jefa to anyone who wants authentic Mexican food.

We’ve been here a handful of times and stuff has changed during this recent visit, mostly the price. The food is ok but not worth the price we paid- for 3 people it came out to over $50 and they charge for each refill. I can honestly say that there aren’t many places in Anthony that charge that much for a simple meal. I do also agree with another reviewer that the menudo does taste canned. My only other complaint would be that the music is overbearingly loud especially for late morning/early afternoon.

Food is good, just didn’t like the huevos rancheros in green sauce they are made with cream of chicken type sauce. I didn’t want green enchiladas. My husband’s red Chile was amazing.

Great place to eat. Went in on the weekend and they had free margaritas. The pork steak and menudo tasted like home cooking! Friendly staff!!
