Located in the iconic Brasserie Les Halles space on Park Avenue South, Francis Staub, founder of the fabled cookware company (Staub) brings gourmand cooking to New York. A celebration of the French brasserie — restaurants loved for their casual, convivial atmosphere, ingredient-driven dishes and extensive Old World wine menu — La Brasserie was created with both indulgence and daily pleasure in mind.

Me and my girlfriend went to La Brasserie for restaurant week, and a sort of early Valentine’s Day meal.

The last time I was here it was still Les Halles. It largely retains the look and feel of the old place. As for the food, quite good: enjoyed the French onion, a lobster and shrimp sandwich (we were there during lunch), while my companions enjoyed Le cheeseburger and the day’s fish special, Le dorado…a Mediterranean fish in a wine reduction sauce. The profiteroles with chocolate sauce were good as a shared desert.

We’d passed by this place a few times and meant to give it a try at some point and managed to go this week for lunch.

Fine dining at its best! A must stop, when visiting New York City. Every course was a new adventure in culinary excellence. From the appetizers to the deserts, our taste buds did not stop firing. We started with fresh oysters beautifully served on a silver platter. The Soupe Du Jour was an amazing clam chowder, creamy as can be. Le Cheese Burger was as beautiful as it was delicious, served on a Brioche Bun. La Bouillabaisse was a delightful voyage to the sea. Le Ribeye de Boeu was perfectly cooked and the Rosemary Au Jus perfectly complimented. The desserts were spectacular, Le Soufflé Chaud was my favorite. In summary, La Brasserie is a fantastic example of fine French Cuisine, Anthony Bourdain himself, would have been proud to serve such a well planned and executed menu so, Chef Jaime Loja can stand proud and rest assured that his menu is fit for royalty. Thank you Chef and please thank your wonderful staff, whom made our visit spectacular!

Solid recommendation here. Good location, nice clean venue w linen table cloth and a real bar fit for foods and drinks. I been coming here for years and just visited for the first time since covid. Still good.

We decided to try this place, finally, because of restaurant week. First the good: the service was excellent and they didn’t skimp on servings. Also, the soup of the day – gazpacho with watermelon radish – was incredible.
