Malatang is the perfect hot pot option if you want the freedom to pick your own broth and ingredients like hot pot without having to eat an entire pot yourself. It is individualized hot pot and is perfect for cold weather. Just like a do-it-yourself salad, you can customize everything about malatang down to the seasonings, spiciness level and ingredients. The ingredients you pick are cooked in a large vat of boiling broth in separate baskets. Each ingredient is cooked a different amount of time to be perfect. They are all combined into a bowl with broth and whatever toppings you’d like. Every ingredient has its own price ranging from $14.99 (usually) and the price of the dish is up to how much you want in it.

The price is calculated by weight, it depends how much you get in your bowl for Malatang. There’s a rule that you have to get at least 1 pound. The server are nice a patient when explaining. You can also adjust the level of spice that suits you. I have my bowl 1.5 pounds, and it cause nearly 30(include tax and tip) but everyone have to give minimum 10 percent of tip if dine in. Nothing really surprise me, it just standard Malatang and a bit overpriced. I’m also confused about the meat section because there’s no label, so you may accidentally get the wrong protein you want. Overall, standard food, overpriced, good service.

We ordered Malatang and we love it. This is my first time dining in. I usually order on RICEPO but their portion can barely feed one person. It gets a bit salty in the end (maybe it’s because of their seasame/spicy oil sauce?) Their service was great! (especially a server who speaks korean)

Fantastic. Service was super polite and helpful without being pushy at all. Delicious, super fresh ingredients and wide variety. I had no trouble at all eating vegan here, and my dining partner was just as satisfied. Pricing was great. Seating and atmosphere are low-key, but for a slurpy meal like Malatang, that’s just what I want. The medium spicy was PERFECT.

Amazing and flavorful Asian food with good pricing. The main reason I’m leaving this review though is to acknowledge how amazing the staff is. I received amazing service here but in top of this, the owner is actually such a genuine good person. One time he offered me an umbrella for free when I was leaving because of the rain which was so helpful. Great food, great team, great owner.

Love love this restaurant. So authentic and delicious that we eat here about once a week. The soup is so so good. You grab a bowl, add in what you want and they cook it for you either as a soup or dry. You can also customize spice level. And it’s so reasonably priced. Plus the owner Arik is just the sweetest.

This is my partner and I’s favorite restaurant in Boston. The flavors are divine, even for vegetarians! Can’t recommend enough, just watch how much you add to your bowl because the price can add up with all the tasty ingredients. 🙂

The vegetables are very fresh and the meat is very high quality. When we went the meat and vegetables were all the same price per pound! The broth is also very tasty. 5/5

Came here for the first time tonight. Walked in to be greater by the owner and his employees. Owner showed me how to start and told me the limit I should have for it to be a healthy amount.
