The food was good. Our server, Caleb, was very polite, helpful, and attentive to all of our needs. Definitely 5 stars for his service alone. I highly recommend this restaurant for a night out for family or a wonderful dating experience. Make sure and ask to be served by Caleb. You won’t regret it.

Quick service for Dashers, quick in and out. The guy working the front counter was extremely polite and on top of doing his job. Gardendale definitely seems to have more courteous employees than most places in the Northern Birmingham area. 5 stars!

Checked out this place after reading some reviews. We actually regret our choice: why ordering sushi at a landlocked state? The raw fish was not fresh. Other cooked sushi is pretty good however. Nice staff.

I enjoyed the sushi. My grand daughter’s food was cold. She sent it back without problems. We got a high chair. Really needed a toddler buster seat. Nice place. Food was good. Some prices were high. Server was excellent!

After unexpected car repairs left us in Gardendale for the night, my husband and I were looking for somewhere to eat within walking distance of our hotel. Sushi is always our go-to, so we decided to give Kumo a try. We were quickly seated and greeted by our server, who was friendly and attentive for the duration of our meal. The atmosphere and decor could use a little help. Empty product boxes and takeout materials every direction you look made the restaurant feel cluttered. The food, however, was excellent. We ordered miso soup, the “Lonely Angel Roll,” the “Sweetheart Roll,” and the “Spicy Girl Roll.” All three of the rolls were fresh, flavorful, reasonably priced and absolutely massive!

A friend and I were just passing through for the night and found this place. Wow. This was possibly the best sushi I’ve ever had. And the nigori sake was soul soothing. A quaint little place. With quality service and food. The spicy tuna was light with the perfect amount of spice. The roll had the perfect ratio of ingredients. Melted in your mouth. I will forever find this place if I’m passing through again.

I absolutely love the food available at Kumo Sushi & Asian! It’s always fresh and made/cooked to order. My truly favorite dish is their coconut shrimp. The x-large shrimp are battered lightly with tempura, deep fried, and covered generously with a white, creamy sauce that contains a large amount of coconut pieces! Yummy! I have never seen coconut shrimp made and served this way, however, it should be as the tempura coating is light, hot, and crispy, and the shrimp remain very moist! I highly recommend this restaurant!
