This has been one of my favorite joints for over 30 years. Whenever I return home it has always been my first stop. However, today was different. The flavor was still there, but the coney sauce was MUCH too salty. Couldn’t finish it. Very disappointed!

Koney King is a neighborhood staple for over 90 years. It’s under new ownership and he has expanded the menu while maintaining that signature chili. The Koney Dogs are still great and I have sampled some of the new items.

1st time ever going there. Read the reviews was excited considering them and how good the food looked. Ordered a meal, it was alright. Was kind of disappointing because there was hardly any flavor in the chili at all. Tastes like your average chili you can buy in a can at a store. It was an alright meal for the most part, price was a little high for the small meal.

Always quick and friendly service. I remember going there as a kid 30 years ago and the koney dogs still have the same great taste from back then. I know some people won’t go because it’s in Gary, but it’s right off Broadway and I’ve never seen anything to make this white boy feel unsafe. It’s always a pleasant and tasty experience.

Koney King is old school Chile burgers and hot dogs. They make more than that. Som of the staff has been there for a while everybody in the community knows them. If you want to eat there for lunch you should place a call in order for pick up. The place is small everyone in the community knows they exist and the food is great. They even serve breakfast.
