Love the vibe, quite a wait for our big party which was understandable in Father’s Day. Heavier than I expected for brunch, but has some interesting unique items in the menu. The only complaint is my daughter’s order took really long to arrive and clearly was made in a hurry so the presentation wasn’t as good.

The Oakland branch of Kitchen Story opened in early 2020, and I am delighted it survived our lockdown years so that I could finally visit it last weekend! It’s just as good as the San Francisco locale but in a charming, colorfully decorated two-story building. The patio and first floor have a typical boisterous brunch vibe, but the upper floor was much more relaxed on our visit and boasts a beautiful bar.

Service is a bit slow and of course depends on how busy it is.Ambient is nice if you have a chance to sit outside. And yes there is outside sitting.

Food was fire I’ll tell you that. Chicken and waffles are a must-eat, the waffles had sugar you could crunch between your teeth and the syrup was umami with hints of soy sauce. Amazing fusion. I had the fried chicken eggs bene and it was also fire. The potatoes were crispy as heck and salty and just *chefs kiss*. Caveat is that we waited like 25 minutes to get seated/order and then like 30 to get our food. Maybe you’ll have more luck!

Tasty, filling, and comforting Korean and Japanese influenced brunch / lunch. Quite busy on a Saturday with no reservations for a party of 3 so waited maybe 20 minutes for a table and another 20 for food. Staff was kind and let us move to a lower table from the high table we were originally seated at, picking up our water glasses for us and moving them to the new table.

Wow! Everything we had was a winner. My coconut cream latte was delicious and I sense myself craving one as I type this. The crab and shrimp soufflegg was perfectly made. 10-15min wait for Friday brunch, well worth it. Will be back.

The food was good, and all had good flavors. We had to keep reminding servers of certain items we ordered that hadn’t come out. (Simple items like apple juice, while we all had other drinks already) we ended up not getting one item, but didn’t realize until we left. The mimosas were yummy, too. Their policy about everyone at your table having to partake in the endless mimosas is kind of lame. Since not everyone is there for that.

Kitchen Story had the ambiance of a cozy cooking/restaurant game and elegant tasty dishes to match. You’ll definitely need to try one of the craft cocktails (or two!). And how can I forget the Millionaires Bacon? Melt in your mouth savory sweet salty heaven.

The food was delicious. Ordered the Tornado Galbi Omurice and it was perfect. The scrambled egg and the fried rice was so good. I am definitely coming back.

Extremely disappointing experience. We waited for an hour to get a table and OVER AN HOUR from sitting down to getting our first dish served, during the whole hour our waitress even forgot about our drinks so we just sat there, we were so bored that we even started playing online game together. We ordered fried ginger rice and Korean noodles, none of them lived up to our expectations – they were so mediocre and vanilla that I am so curious why so people were lining up for this average place. The only highlight for our entire brunch was the millionaire bacon.
