Absolutely outstanding. Impeccable service and delicious food in a clean and minimalist setting, what more could you ask for? Make sure you make a reservation in advance, when their reservation window opens (secret tip: use the “scheduled send” feature in gmail to make sure your reservation request is perfectly on-time).

Missing the foodies at Honda Plaza in little Tokyo LA. Friend of Mom’s made a reservation 3 weeks ago and finally made us seat in and able to taste the wonderful dishes.

The Honda Plaza contains a treasure trove of great eats, and Kinjiro fits in beautifully.

Little Tokyo’s best “hidden gem” and maybe I should keep this place a secret but I can’t help but share. I love izakaya and I also love an intimate space. Reservations are email only rn and you make it two weeks in advance. The food is spectacular and the whole experience feels so special. Bring someone you love, eat good food, and talk all night.

Hmm Kinjiro! Located in the Honda Plaza, with indoor and outdoor seating. This is my go-to for out of town friends (if I can secure a reservation).

Excellent food, with very nice traditional dishes. From a technical standpoint, they food was very good on almost all aspects (preparation of the food, how evenly everything was cut (whether it was in a salad or garnish), flavor combinations, and presentation).

The food here is very very good. It comes at a premium price point. For me, when food is expensive, the distinction between 4 and 5 stars is if the food is very good food or if the food is excellent. I’d consider this restaurant very good. The menu has a variety of small dishes meant to share. The seafood is delicious, which the uni, scallop, and crab dish being my favorite. The beef was a close second. Definitely worth trying, and there will be some memorable dishes, but not quite exceptional.

Everything was excellent in a way that raised the bar. Intense and well paired flavors, temperatures and textures, and the chef was kind to accommodate my food allergy. Dessert was also excellent, not an afterthought.

There’s a reason why one needs to book weeks in advance via email. The service was really nonpareil – cool, polite, but attentive to the last detail, as if one’s in Japan. Try the sparkling sake then order freely, as everything on the menu is guaranteed to be good 🙂
