We had gotten take out from this place which wasn’t that bad so we thought we would go in person. The atmosphere is dark and depressing. The sake menu is horribly thin. The waiters basically don’t know anything about Japanese food or what’s on the menu. They were confused by simple requests like giving us regular soy sauce instead of the low salt version on the table. They don’t have basic items like a sashimi plate. Suggest avoiding.

***UPDATE*** this place has gone down hill significantly! It no longer serves quality food. We ordered a halibut dish and it tasted old and smelled horrible! We couldn’t even eat one piece and the servers noticed but didn’t bother to ask if something was wrong with the dish. It was definitely and expensive dish that they picked up before we were even done with our dinner. In the past, Erwin would’ve taken his time to check in but he just waves from a distance. We we’re loyal customers and have tipped well, but we can no longer ignore the last 4 horrific dinner experiences. Bye bye Kihon! We will never return to your once special place. You really have neglected to take care of your loyal customers. We are sadly not the ones experiencing such terrible issues here, and loyal customers speak about their experiences and others have also stopped going.

We have been coming here since they were Sushi of Naples. Sushi here melts in your mouth. Definite recommendations are their albacore sushi, black sea bream, and their amber jack. We order these every time we come, and it never disappoints. My other favorite is their hamachi kama, which you have to ask for early in the night, or they run out. Yes, it is that good!

This has to be the best sushi place in Long Beach. It is a definite “RTR Must” to go to. They always deliver with quality fish. I shouldnt probably tell you what our favorite dish is … but I will not be selfish. After all is all about People Helping People -PHP! Ask for the Halibut fin, very limited quantity every day so make sure you order it first. Love this place… I shall see you there.

Absolutely delicious sushi . Our chef was the best. His name is Peter and we didn’t even need to look/order from the menu. He heard us talk about a few items on the menu and then he took control of what he thought we would like to eat. Omg, what as n experience that was. A bit expensive, but totally worth it. We are definitely going back there and sitting where Peter is.
