This is now one of my favorite spots in Lahaina! The staff is friendly and the food is fantastic. I love kale but I do not like beets, but I love how they prepare the beets for the kale salad. I couldn’t wait to try the Local-Kine pizza (you had me at bacon and SPAM). They also have dairy free cheese options for those of us who love pizza but the dairy does not love our tummy. The BYOB does not bother me, but I look forward to the cocktail options when they are available.

Kapena’s was one of my favorite casual dining experiences while visiting Maui. I especially enjoy pizza, and love trying local. The restaurant is located in Lahaina, a lovely “small town” on Maui. While visiting, my husband and I spent nearly every evening walking the streets of Lahaina. I enjoyed the ambiance, there was indoor and outdoor seating available. A minor downside, the restaurant is located in the same area as a popular luau, so it can be quite loud during the evening hours. Parking is available across the street or underground. We made a reservation and dined here on a Friday, but there was definitely room for walk-ins. You could dine indoors or outdoors, it was a semi- open air restaurant. They also had the option to order to-go.

made a quick search for best pizza in Maui and this was not at the top but it was close to our resort – it definitely should be at the top of the list! We ordered 3 pizzas to share for a group of 7. Their local beer was a perfect pair to complement our pizzas (Maui haze & bikini blonde), for dessert, we tried the mango gelato and the Cinnabon Sunday – everything we ate we wanted more. The staff was AMAZING. Our server was friendly, bubbly and helpful! The bar tender came to say hello to our table, we wish we could come here daily before our trip ends! The ambiance and decor of the place was beautiful too!

A while after our trip has ended, we’re still talking about how much we enjoyed this pizza place, even though it was one of the more affordable meals we had in Lahaina. The staff was super friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and the pizza was excellent. We got the BBQ pulled pork, which I’d recommend – fresh ingredients and very flavorful, but not oversauced like BBQ pizza can sometimes be. Our pickier guest got a plain cheese pizza, and even that was unusually good – great crust, and you could tell the sauce was house-made. Nice view of the mountains and good peoplewatching from the balcony area. Also, easy (paid) parking right beneath the building.

This place is the bomb. There is not better salad on the island. The pizza is so good. The crust is prefect. You have got to try this place.

We were staying at Lahaina Shores, and drove to Ka’anapali for dinner, only to be told there was a 1-hour wait (restaurant didn’t take reservations!) so we turned around and decided to try Kapena’s. What a great find! (I HAd noticed other people at the hotel were bringing in pizza boxes!) We sat at the bar and ordered gin and tonics from Nick, the bartender, and, as well, a Caesar salad and a Margharita pizza, both to share. GREAT drinks! DELICIOUS salad AND pizza! We highly recommend Kapena’s and look forward to going back when we go to Maui again!

This family-run place is INCREDIBLE. The interior is really charming and they put allot of thought into the design. Every ingredient is delicious and fresh. And the service is the friendliest on the island. Gabe and the blonde waitress from Philly (I forgot her name) made us feel very welcome, even though they were super busy!

We loved this place. My only regret is we didn’t get to eat here more than once. Their website menu doesn’t have everything available and they should update it. We split a mixed kula greens salad which was pricey $18 but it was huge and fresh and delicious and easily sharable between 2-3 people. We then ordered a build your own pizza with red sauce, mozzarella, feta and Italian sausage. It was delicious. The crust was just the perfect amount of crisp and chewy and the underside of the crust had a nice crunch and wasn’t soggy which can be a problem for thin crust pizza. The service was great as well. It is located south of the banyan tree park and past the elementary school . A definite must try!
