My 375th ‘cue stop on a 35 state BBQ odyssey (the 19th in Kansas) was disappointing. $15 bought a two meat (ribs, burnt ends) plate with a side of french fries, and a can of Diet Coke. First, the wait. I was sixth in line at 11:13, and the food finally appeared at 11:51. Three customers in line behind me gave up, and took their business elsewhere. As for the food, the burnt ends were dry, tough, and flavorless. After three bites, the rest went in the trash. The heavily sauced ribs didn’t have a bad rub, but they were as far removed from “separating cleanly at the bite” as one could possibly get. A steak knife, which I had with me, turned out to be very much in order. And even the fries turned out to be chewy! From start to finish, this was a one hour and forty minute lunch stop. If you choose to dine here, plan accordingly.

Visited 01APR2023 – Heard great things about this being one of the top BBQ spots in the KC Metro. Whomever made those lists needs to expand their pallet. Waited 30 min in line with only half a dozen people in front of me. Waited another 30 min to get my food after ordering. I definitely don’t think the food ranks in the top spots for KC BBQ.

Wanted KC BBQ; refused to go inside anywhere during lockdown. Remembered this from Queer Eye, and got there right as they opened. No line, no wait.

I went here because of the Buzz from Queer Eye, and was not disappointed. The ladies were super sweet and hospitable when taking my order then checking on us in the eating area. The food was prepared fast despite being short staffed. I ordered the sausage, ribs, and potato salad with the best barbeque sauce I’ve ever had in my life. (Immediately ordered more after this meal.) The food was superb and the service was amazing. It was definitely worth the hype and drive.

Finally did it. Definitely see why they sell out most days. Very small BBQ business. Went with a buddy and between us we tried the burnt ends, turkey, pork, ribs and homemade sausage. All were good. Sauce was very flavorful, sweet kind. The BBQ Beans stole the show. Very, Very good. A must try. They had bread n butter pickles in them. If I am in the area for lunch I most definitely will go back. 9-1-2022

Place is phenomenal. Best BBQ ive had in Kansas as a lifelong resident. Only open 3 days a week for limited hours. They will run out of certain items the later in the day it is. Love love love it!

I happened to be in KC and had to stop by Jones to try the iconic BBQ place and I was SUPER impressed! First, the service is out of this world friendly. Second, we waited no more than 10 min. And third, the food was EVERYTHING. The baked beans were some of the best I’ve had in my life. That secret BBQ sauce is famous for a reason, I was even pouring it over the french fries. Those sausages were so smooth and flavourful they were delicious too. Total experience surpassed my expectations and I can’t wait to go again next time I’m in KC!

The sauce is really good I love to stop by and try good BBQ joints. Tried the Sampler meat was dried not to juicy. Sampler was $48 even. Came with fries and a soda. I’ll try it again next time.

Jones is great! This walk-up spot offers BBQ 24 hours a day, thanks to its BBQ Vending Machine. You can buy sandwiches, sauce or rub. There are a few tables for outdoor seating, they even have a TV and portable restroom (although it is not a handicapped accessible variety). This spot is located in a parking lot, with plenty of spaces, making accessing easy. It’s window service, and the turn-round is fast! Very pleasant service, and I appreciated seeing food being prepared by staff who are masked. The beans were very tasty, slightly sweet, oniony, and included chopped pickles and meat. The fries are lightly seasoned, and not very crispy. The combo plate offers two types of meat served over bread with one side. The turkey isn’t very flavorful, from a BBQ standpoint, but it was tender and juicy. The ribs are excellent. Crispy exterior and tender and very flavorful. They’re not very meaty but you get three which gives you as much meat as most places which give you only two bones in a combo plate. The burnt end plate is actually a burnt end sandwich, in fact it’s chopped up brisket served in a hoagie. It was excellent! I forgot to ask for my meat un-sauced but was pleased to see they only add just enough sauce to enhance the meal. They’re not trying to hide flavorless, dry, or fatty BBQ like I’ve found at the other spots I’ve reviewed (I’m at about location 100 in KC). The sauce is on the sweet side (as is most in KC) but not cloyingly so, and it’s also got a nice black-peppery kick to offset the sweet.
