We were traveling from Texas to Savannah but after a very long drive and just short of our goal, we had to stop due to bad weather. At the gas station, they recommended and directed us up the hill to Jomax’s. Tired and hungry, we walked in at around 5 pm with no expectations.

Wonderful small town eatery. Friendly waitstaff. Owner even checked on us to ensure we had everything we needed. Food was delicious with healthy portions for reasonable price. They allowed substitutions of sides at no extra cost. They offer large family size portions to go, too!

Great BBQ! Found this great little restaurant while on a country-roads trip from Florida to upstate South Carolina (& so glad we did). I had a BBQ salad with pork. It was so good! The croutons tasted homemade and our onion rings were crispy and delicious. I’m very picky about my tea & theirs did not disappoint. My husband is equally picky about BBQ sauce and he considered buying a pint of theirs but couldn’t because we were concerned it would spill on the long ride home. We’ll carry a bottle with us the next time we have to go back through Metter.

So good! I don’t know what else to say. I had the brisket, mac n cheese, and potato wedges. All were so so so good. I agree with another reviewer that different sauces would be nice but everything was so good you wouldn’t even need sauce. Portion sizes were generous and process are more than fair. I was with someone with a food allergy and they marked on the ticket for them to change gloves and the waitress spoke to the kitchen staff as she put our order in. We are from another part of the state but if I’m even remotely close again I’ll be back.

Talk about goood spare ribs. I got a full rack. My dog Milo is having the grilled chicken. The place was clean abd service was fast. Lots of dessert treats available too. Friendly staff and excellent food. Thank yall.

Best thing was the desserts and the mac and cheese the brisket was very overrated. The ribs were terrible no seasoning. I asked it all their meat, sauce on it they said yes I should have known then not to get barbecue. They only offer one sauce and it’s a very vinegary not good barbecue sauce.

We love Jomax. My parents have been coming here for years every time they drive through Metter. Food is always fresh and delicious and the servers are just the friendliest. The also sell delightful pastries from a local pastry chef.
