Classic UK pub atmosphere minus perhaps a dart board or two amd the menus but likely no room for dart boards. Small bar but interesting Hawaiian themed cocktails. Decent craft on tap. Appetizers and entrees were both quite good though again, it’s the pub look, not pub menu, certainly not a British pub menu anyway. Overall a place I’d frequent if I lived in or around Montrose. Recommended.

Classic cocktails at a reasonable price in a space that feels like an Art Deco speakeasy. We loved our first experience at John Sparr – we came in for a cocktail after Christmas shopping and stayed for three! We happened to be sitting right next to the co-owner Dave and enjoyed his take on his grandma’s eggnog recipe! We will be back very soon with friends.

Dinner Saturday evening was delightful. The setting is very relaxed. Moderate prices. Food and drink excellent (have the sand dabs stuffed with crab meat). Service is outstanding – ‘old school’ pros here!

First time visiting this spot. The food was amazing but the service was beyond. The men that work here are just so kind and thoughtful. This will be our new date night spot.

Consistently on par with the quality of their food. I really enjoy the cozy atmosphere, the well-mixed cocktails, and the way they freshen up their menu with their weekly specials. I like their skirt steak medium well, as the marinade stands out in flavor within while giving the exterior a smoky, charred contrast. Have also had their baby back ribs, which they cycle in and out of their weekly specials. Smoky, meaty with very little fat, and a sweet BBQ glaze on the outside.

Great steak and Ceasar. They were busy, the wine was delicious and the service was friendly . A great find.

Just moved here permanently and this place is amazing. Great food, nice staff and the best drinks. My guy and I love it. Has also a beautiful interior and music.

We took friends out & they recommended this place. Lovely old world feeling & the waitstaff was warm & inviting.

Our friends invited us to their hidden jewel of a restaurant in Montrose. They’ve been going here for years with their two daughters but this time was a couples date night. Everything we ordered was delicious. The drinks are legit old timey cocktails from Zombies (all iterations) to Apple Martinis. All their ‘house’ liquors are actually top-shelf. Highly suggest their house burger!

In a word, exquisite. By far the cleanest establishment I’ve been in, but the cocktails are astounding. Serious craftsmanship from those who know the old ways. As far as food, we only tried the crab cakes and corned beef. Crab cakes were flavorful and delicate, expertly crafted. The corned beef was clearly made with love, over many hours. Everything here from the food, to the drinks, to the wonderful staff is a refreshing escape from the real world, and into a realm of indulgence.
