I had chicken and fries combo.the chicken and fries was actually good . However the fish first off was definitely not catfish as I ordered it seemed to be swai or tilapia. The fish was not done I couldn’t eat it, it was not edible at all. Have to say I’m very disappointed after seeing all they hype on tiktok and the good google reviews

I went to this fish place and ordered 3 piece catfish fillets and got home and ate some and it’s not real catfish called them and asked why are you all serving fake catfish he said it’s catfish but not catfish I will never go there again never my stomach is sick people watch what you are eating

Something has happened in the last few months. Maybe a new cook? Previous owners were from Chicago. They would be mortified at the lack of seasoning and hard cook of fried wings and catfish. Cooked all the flavor out of it. I could not finish either as I smelled and tasted burnt cooking oil. It’s so sad

I’ma true Chicagoan through and through. Honest review. I ordered a pizza puff and catfish fillet. The fillet didn’t taste great at all. Didn’t taste any seasoning and wasn’t cooked long. It was falling apart as soon as I picked it up. Mild sauce is not the mild sauce from Chicago, could’ve made that at home.

First time visiting, I ordered the pick 2 combo plate. Asked if the fish filet option was catfish, the server said yes. It is not. It is nasty rubbery swai. I paired it with whiting fish. Big mistake, tasted like old fried freezer burned sardines. Obviously based off other reviews, I made the wrong dinner choice for my 1st time trying them. Not sure I will return, left a bad taste in my mind.

Good food, no question about that. But we were trying to get fried perch, and they told us they didn’t have it for the past 3 months due to supplier shortages countrywide. I think that should be posted somewhere, because people go by Google. I guess the best thing is to call ahead, but the catfish was definitely good. Btw, Catfish Floyd doesn’t have perch either, and yes, I checked.

The food makes up for the building. Its a good take out spot. U can dine in if u like but the inside needs attention. I mean, paint, rotten wood around windows etc.

jj’s isn’t what it used to be. Fries were super stale and the catfish fillet had a really tough crunch but the actual fish was slimey and chewy. Sad to say I won’t be going back here absolutely awful.
