An institution for a reason. Solid drinks, food and service. The rice balls were some of the best we’ve had in the tri-state area, serving them with red sauce and Alfredo was very unique. The calamari and clams casino were also delicious. Loved the family style salad and sauteed escarole. Great options, you can’t go wrong!

Went on a Wednesday night, didn’t make a reservation and were lucky to get a table. It was old school type of environment and very cozy. The people who work there are very friendly. We got veal parm and shrimp linguine, and we enjoyed it!

Gave it 3 because they would not accommodate a different type of pasta on the side because they were so busy. However, it was a Monday night and didn’t seem too crowded. Service was a little slow but maybe our server was new. Also no baby changing table in the bathroom. Valet only. Valet attendant follows you to talk to you. Seems nice but kind of creepy. Food was pretty good though.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The room was ice cold, the waitress was inattentive, did not come around to ask if we needed anything. My food was overcooked. I get better Italian food at my local pizza place. Will never go back.

Do NOT order the steak on Thursdays. Whatever grill cook they had on the line tonight has no experience. I ordered a “Jimmy’s Special Steak” for $50, temp’d medium. The first steak I got was flat-out well done. The understanding and apologetic server brought it back to the kitchen. She was fantastic and professional, I believe her name was Maria. A few minutes later, another steak came out. I cut into it this time to see it was not a single degree above 130, rare.

Jimmy’s is and always will be a staple, classic Italian restaurant in Asbury Park, NJ. It did not disappoint on Mother’s Day. That classic style feel, great portions, as well as the flavor and presentation of all the food. And you have to love the dining space / decor. Trust me, this review isn’t going to have an effect at all, because so many people already love and dine here… And you should too…

What a truly good experience going to Jimmy’s italian restaurant. They have valet parking for your convenience. Make reservations early as it does get busy.

Great food , we have gone here for years. The cosmopolitan was a nice start , fresh lime and good kick. The family style salad photo doesn’t do it justice because we dug right in, it was so good with homemade dressing we added salami and cheese. The shrimp and crab chowder was thick and chunky with tons of crab and baby shrimp. Things were a little off tonite because the regular chef was out sick. But once it was straightened out all was fine. Our waitress Lee was super attentive, friendly and kept everything on point. The bread was hot and crispy as we dunked it in the herb infused olive oil on the table. The clams oreganato had balanced flavor and moistness. Fried calamari was traditionally done and came with mild and spicy marinara. Shrimp parmigiana had big juicy shrimp and melted fresh mozzarella. Spinach Ravioli cooked perfectly. The pork chops Italian style thick and tasty. The potatoes were a little soggy but still good flavor. We were full so we took home enough for another meal and dessert was out of the question.

I really wanted to like this place given its reputation, reviews, and general “old school Jersey Italian joint” vibes, but my family and I were really disappointed by the bland, banquet hall-esque atmosphere of the back-back room, the really curt and mediocre service, and the overall experience of the night. The food was generally pretty good, so it might have just been an off night, but it’ll probably be the only night we have there.
