Food was ok but definitely not what I’m used too. I had the chorizo burrito which came with lettuce, tomato & sour cream all put inside the burrito. Portions are large and prices are reasonable. I was mostly disappointed because they don’t have tortilla chips. I’ve never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn’t have chips and salsa! I wanted to try the guacamole but…no chips! The mango agua fresca was the best I’ve ever had. Like biting into a fresh mango!

After seeing the other 5 star reviews, I really wanted to like this place. I’m all about hole in the wall authentic Mexican restaurants, but… Walking into this establishment I noticed about 10 tables with one customer seated. All the tables were stacked with dirty dishes except for an uncleaned table directly under their TV. Because of the 7 other 5 star reviews I decided to suck it up. I proceeded to go ahead and order my 3 Carne tacos. When handed my tacos, I dug in after applying some of their hot sauce. My first bite was a lot of crunchy black gristle from an uncleaned grill. Upon inspection of my tacos, they were all mixed with a lot of this black crunchy gristle. I was so disappointed… I sat their picking out what little edible Carne I could find, paid and left still hungry. One of my worst dining experiences to date.

I had an awesome meal here today. Somewhat distant relatives of my husband own the place so when his cousin, who’s aunt owns the place, was here visiting, we drove out from Raleigh to see her and her and we all ate at her family’s restaurant. It was the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had outside of Mexico. My husband is from Guadalajara, so I’m accustomed to eating home cooked meals from families in that region and the very casual local eateries the residents frequent and this place is exactly the type of restaurant you’d find there. I read other reviews and have to think they thought they were reviewing a different restaurant and accidentally tagged this one….someone mentioned broccoli and a salad and English on the menu…none were things I saw there. I had a chicken taco and a suegra and they were delicious. I generally stick with water for meals but decided to get agua de Jamaica and it tasted so good I had a refill and a big cup to go. it was definitely worth driving over an hour so we will be going back!

It was pretty good. Definitely a hole-in-the-wall type place. We thought the carne asada could have used more brown bits on the meat. I had very tasty pineapple horchata. Try the green sauce.

If you want authentic Mexican food this is the place to go. Don’t expect a fancy restaurant, what they lack in the aesthetic they make up for ten fold in the great tasting food.
