Went to Jambo Grill as I wanted some beef pies, plantains, and jollof rice. The plantains were good, some of the best I’ve had in Alabama. The jollof rice was pretty good as well. I just feel like a little more spices could have been used on the rice. I never tried the beef pies as it was left off my order. The only hiccup I had came from placing my order. First an item being left off my order, second being told the jollof rice came with fried chicken to have it first come out with no chicken then what I believe was broiled chicken and the waiter not taking initiative to correct the problem or apologize. I had to request to add the meat and to speak with someone to get what I paid for. After speaking with the cook who I believe was the owner, he informed me about the type of chicken that came with the jollof rice and provided me with fried as well since I was told that was what I would get and why I ordered it. While I did enjoy the food, I believe a lot of issues may come from not knowing the menu when customers have questions or providing the wrong info. I did want to extend grace as the waiter taking orders seemed young and like hosting was new to her. Nonetheless, the other (adults) working seemed to be very accommodating and also gave me a Jamaican soda because of my long wait. I believe everything will get better with time. I will visit again and plan to bring friends.

Man this place is good so far!! I tried the oxtail stew, Jollof rice, and plantains. It was amazing!! The rice needed a lil bit more seasoning like salt and it had a spicy kick but I liked it! The best I’ve had and it’s AUTHENTIC! I recommend for sure.(excuse the pic I put half on a plate, because it’s a big portion)

The food was amazing and flavorful. I ordered the okra soup I would preferred more sliminess but it was amazing!! The beef patty melted in my mouth and the crust was buttery yet perfect crunch. I cannot wait to actually come inside and enjoy the atmosphere…

Definitely was over rated and the portions are extremely small . The taste was 4 out of 10 yes they give you like 1 and a half small oxtails for 20.00 . We spent almost 75.00 for nothing . The Mac and cheese was watery and no cheese in sight . Cabbage is sweet with big carrots but there is also a nasty aftertaste . Caribbean food is supposed soulful and flavorful . No flavor , no bread with the meal . Sticking to Jakes (no affiliation) but I’ve been in Hoover for a long time and you always get your money worth . Extremely disappointed with this place !! Tried to support us ! 75.00 in the trash !! Literally thrown away because we could eat it .

I was blown away by this place. Amazing food and Friendly service. You want to order an appetizer, because they are cheap and amazing, and the food is cooked fresh so it takes a little longer to come out. The lamb chops were seasoned well, but slightly over cooked. I got the Mac and cheese and the jollof rice and they were good enough to be a meal on their own. I can’t wait to come back here.

The food is absolutely delicious. The portion size is enough for another meal. This is a nice spot with a friendly staff. I’ve been twice. Try the curry chicken or the goat. They were flavorful and tender

Located within a strip mall on Montgomery Highway near Hobby Lobby. The restaurant opened at 1pm. This restaurant is relatively new to this area. The table service was a bit slow but based on the different types of cuisine, it is expected. The dishes vary between African, Indian, and Jamaican spices. It’s well worth it if you are patient. We tried Egusi w/ goat & Fufu, jollof rice w/ lamb chops, jerk chicken w/ Jollof & plantains, and chicken curry. The Jollof was okay, as we prefer a little more heat. The winner was the egusi w/leaf and chicken curry. It’s worth a try, especially if you are craving those spices and flavors.

Jambo Grill is AMAZING!!! The atmosphere is amazing. It’s a nice place to bring your family, even young children for a night of good eating, fun, dancing and singing. The DJ and staff are wonderfully accommodating. If you want to have a night of family fun, Jambo Grill is the place to go!!!

This was the worst $50.00 I ever spent! I ordered lamb chops, rice & peas, plantains, egusi soup & fufu! The rice was horrible it was like they put uncooked rice in a plate with peas on top! The lamb chops were very small and over cooked! The soup was the worst I ever had! The plantains were pretty good! Overall the food was not worth the money and wasn’t what one would expect, so keep your expectations very low! The staff was pretty nice and the atmosphere was very nice! However, I definitely wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to my family & friends!
