Total shocker! Best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. Chicken breast was hand pounded thin, and breaded here in house. Just perfectly cooked.

Very nice little diner. Outdoor seating is relaxing. The food was good. We were staying just down the street and didn’t hesitate to return for another meal. The food was good both times. Service was good, very laid back.

Best burgers on the island! Absolutely delicious and the onion rings were perfect and crunchy. Fries and hot dog sliders were ok. Green beans are not fresh.

Pretty large restaurant which seems to be the trend with these South Padre Island restaurants. Walked in for dinner on Thanksgiving and they were fully staffed. Pretty slow for dinner I thought but it WAS Thanksgiving. Our server was very friendly and attended to us regularly. He didn’t know the soup of the day but that seems like something that changes regularly and he just didn’t remember what that days was but another server gladly helped him. Overall well done. Shoutout to our server Luke.

Excellent tasting food, but this restaurant gets a little odd about asking for any simple customization to an order, such as swapping out a bun for a bread roll or vise versa. Something as simple as changing the bread a meal comes on with another they have in stock was like asking them to make something unheard of before. ♂️ it’s always off when a restaurant has all the ingredients already to make items that aren’t on their menu, especially when the photos of other reviewers clearly show them too requested that same customization so it’s obviously popular, why not just add it? How hard is a bread swap, once they figured that out the food was awesome.

After having “Dirty Al’s” as me and my wife’s first restaurant on our honey moon. We were skeptical to try another resturant on the island. Fortunately “Jakes” was way better than ditty’s Al’s. I enjoy the large selection of items on the menu. Ranging from Mexican to classic American food, can’t forget the sea food. Our waitress Vicki was a great bartender and waitress. She gave us a bit of history about “Jakes” and the Island of South Padre also. She made a mean margarita for my wife. And the kitchen cooked up great food. I got the burger with French fries and my wife got the blacken fish tacos. 10/10 on both item. Not to greasy, not to fishy just perfect. Oh and the monz sticks are amazing!! If you and your family are looking for a casual good place to eat with a handful of options and not to pricey for everyone I suggest go to “Jakes” it’s a all around great place with people who enjoy there jobs. 10/10 Would go again

Atmosphere was so nice and welcoming, I came with my dog and they were so thoughtful they even bought out a bowl of water for him. The food was also so good. The fish tacos were 10/10!
