July 15, 2023, I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at J Rodgers BBQ in Saraland. Despite their advertised closing time of 5 PM on Saturdays, I arrived at 4:36 PM to place a to-go order, only to be rudely informed that the kitchen had already closed at 4:30 PM, just 6 minutes after my arrival. As a customer who respects business hours, I was shocked and appalled by their lack of consideration and unhelpful attitude.

As far as the food goes it was excellent. Tender juicy ribs and all the fixens. Service on the other hand was down rite redioulous. Our waitress and another waitress kept Comming by our table and picking up our plates of food then asking o are u done wit this after the fact that they already had there dirty Lil hands on it. Not once but multiple times. So much so that we got up paid out I’ll and left never to return to this place

We used to go there frequently when we lived on that side of town a few months ago. The buffet was excellent then, but the quality has since gone down. The food on the buffet looked old and there were empty pans that looked like it was peach cobbler. It was empty when we got there and was never replenished. There were two pieces of fried chicken and when we asked for more there was probably eight pieces brought out that was gone in minutes and was never replenished. Looks like the crew has changed and our server was not as friendly as the old crew. I don’t think the money we spent was even worth it. This was one of our favorite places to eat, but may not even return.

The BEST bbq I’ve ever had!! And I’m a picky bbq eater. Greens were good! Sausage was delicious! And the ribs omg! staff was very friendly! The art on the wall is very fun to look at. Lots of vintage things! Highly recommend!!

Hands down the best BBQ and Soulfood buffet this side of Texas. The ribs are slow smoked and everything else is freshly made like Momma’s hands were in the kitchen if your Mom was old school and knew how to cook. The staff has always been professional and very inviting. See my pics for a glimpse of hogs in heaven

The food was awesome. There was not a big selection, but what was there tasted great. The problem is the price. 15 bucks for the buffet that has a small selection. One can go to Golden Coral for less with a larger choice. Again great tasting food but the price does not match.
