Good place to eat, the staff is not the most friendly but the food is good and the price is reasonable. The portion is big.

We walked in and the staff was sitting at a table watching a movie they jumped up like they weren’t expecting anyone to show up. The sad part is we thought they were customers not the staff. Can’t believe I talked this place up to my girlfriend just to be disappointed…..they also didn’t explain the dishes or meals to her. We got scrimped on the portions and toppings. There was no ice in the machine for drinks and no lids for the cups so then I ask myself is there nothing else they could be doing besides sitting at a table watching a movie… This also tells me what corners are they cutting like are they even cleaning anything or just letting it go.. we will not be back and we will go to the one in Terra haute.

Never understood why someone would drive hours for a restraunt until the j gumbo in indianapolis closed 🙁 . i love this place, even got to try some new items (amazing). The staff are pretty cool the food was great. My go to is the jumbo and voodoo chicken ..

J-Gumbo’s is your typical Cajun chain. Their food is good, and the location is on a college campus, near a lot of other restaurants. Prices are reasonable and the food is good.

J Gumbo’s is a cozy and delicious restaurant with so many good options. The dishes range from sweet, to spicy, to savory and everything in-between. My personal favorite: The Honey Sriracha Chicken over Mac & Cheese (which is already delicious by itself).

I’ve frequented this cozy restaurant many, many times over the past four years. Being a sweet tooth, I loved the Bourbon Street Chicken, and being a big guy, I was always stuffed full! I’ve tried several other amazing mixes, such as Drunken Chicken (spicy!) and Bumblebee Stew, but my favorite for a while has been the Jean Lafitte, which is a mix of Voodoo Chicken and Bumblebee Stew. I have a terribly low spice tolerance, so I sweat bullets every time I eat it, but I love the flavors and textures to the point that it’s worth it every time. Great to go alone, with a friend, or with a small group!

Always very good. Only thing I don’t like is the sweeter chicken dish because it is too sweet. I’ve eaten here many many times and like everything else. Get the half bowl, it doesn’t seem like the full bowl actually comes with more food, just a bigger bowl 😉

I always passed by this place but never went in. My friends took me one day a few weeks ago. I’ve now been 4 times and I LOVE IT! They have a punch card that I’m planning on finishing by the end of the school year and I crave it every weekend. Portions are huge so I usually share with a friend. Great deal!

We couldn’t decide on the jambalaya or the gumbo. The server suggested that it is popular to combine the two. AMAZING! One bowl is plenty for two to share. Great price and amazing service. I wish I was in town more. I would eat there often.
