Blown away by this place. The food, AMAZING. The service, AMAZING. The atmosphere, AMAZING. The server was great in helping recommend food for us, and we got to sit at the bar and were fascinated watching them prepare the meals.

Awesome Japanese small plates in a city where great authentic Japanese food is not easy to get. Had wonderful sardine sashimi and chicken karage which tasted like they were the dark meat oysters. Sake selection was great in addition to special imported beers from Japan. Food was fast to come out and service was awesome. Located in a quiet residential area a block from famous Ben’s Chili Bowl, this is a great gem.

A great neighborhood eat. The restaurant is nice and quiet. Everything we ate was delicious and they have a great range of hitachino beers on the menu. They also have some amazing specials. Don’t forget to order the cold udon, mushrooms and the kalbi.

Decent food, especially for non-vegetarians. Had a reservation, but was seated at the bar which doesn’t really allow for a clean view into the inner workings of the kitchen, so wasn’t quite sure of the advantage of having a reservation and receiving bar seats. They have a 90-minute time limit (so DC, right?), but that’s plenty of time get in and get out. Also, don’t let the tiny Coke bottle fool you: it’s loaded with high-fructose corn syrup!

My new favourite place in DC. Super authentic, I feel transported to Japan. Also, even though the meal is expensive, I feel like the portion soze is actually worth it, and you can easily get full off noodles and rice dishes. Can’t wait to be back.

Great food with a Izakaya feel

Growing up in East Asia, izakayas were my go to for skewers and crispy beers. Izakaya Seki not only lived up to this standard and scratched that craving, but also far exceeded my expectations. That first bite into the beef tongue was truly exceptional and unforgettable. It was clear that it was cooked sous-vide, but the way it MELTED and literally FELL APART on my tongue was nothing short of magical. It was so spectacular that I ordered it twice. Definitely give this cute intimate izakaya a go, you will certainly not be disappointed!!!

Delicious Japanese restaurant with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. We came here on a Friday with no reservations and the hostess was gracious enough to find us some bar room. The food was delicious and prepared in a quick manner. In addition, the hi-balls were very refreshing and strong. I lived in Japan for three years and it’s nice to find a restaurant in DC that makes you reminisce the countries delicious cuisine. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. I will be coming here again to try the rest of the delicious items on the menu. Thanks again for the extremely satisfying experience. Dōmo arigatōgozaimasu!

I went here for dinner and had a 2 person reservation for 7:30pm so it was right in the middle of their service. When we walked in I felt lost because there is no host or someone to greet you. After I searched for someone to help, we were seated as soon as it was 7:30pm. The food was sent out fast and the server was quick to explain any dishes we had questions about. Great vegetarian options and the “pick up artist” sake was delicious, it made the whole experience feel more genuine. 9/10 meal and will definitely recommend to friends and family.

A very nice Japanese restaurant. We made a reservations several days before our visit, and it had cancellation fee and also requirements for customers to show their vaccination record. The food was very good in general, and they served dishes very fast. I would recommend to order 2-3 dishes every time to keep the path more relaxing. It’s a bit pity that they don’t really have dessert menu except complimentary ice cream, but we enjoyed the ice cream anyway. Highly recommend!
