We are thrilled to have tried this family run delicious restaurant! The food is authentic, savory with many nuances! We left our plates cleaned! They have so many West African specialties and we want to try them all! The oxtail was cooked to perfection and so was the super fresh grouper. The owner is a wonderful host who treats his clients like family. Getting his expert guidance in selecting our entrees was priceless and a great learning experience! We look forward to being back!

I ate here with my boyfriend not long ago and I’m so glad we finally got to eat here. I had the palm butter soup with chicken and he had jollof rice with chicken. It honestly felt like having a home cooked meal from your parents and it was very filling. I can’t wait to move back to Gainesville so I can come here more regularly. Service took a while but that’s because each plate is cooked to order. Great spot, loved eating off my boyfriends plate, still dreaming of the palm butter chicken.

First time trying African food and I have to say, I don’t know why this is the only one I have ever seen anywhere. It was good! I have the fufu and palm butter soup. The fufu was kind of like mashed potatoes but a lot more fun to eat and the soup was really good. Very rich flavor! It was a little warm inside but everyone was super friendly. I hope they are successful. Maybe some more lights on the outside so it looks open would help. And being able to see inside is always a plus. Keep up the good work!

This was our first visit but it will not be our last. The fufu and Eguisi soup was nice and hot. I had never had eguissi soup cooked without chicken beef and seafood so the taste to me was quite different when the protein is added after. The oxtails were filling, and the stew chicken was very good. The special treat is the jelloff rice.

It’s been very hard to find a really good meal in Gainesville. What the city lacks is not only good food, but cultural experiences. To my surprise this fairly new gem is tucked away on the East side of town off Main Street, and it is phenomenal! From the entrance and the owner greeting me at the door, to the experience of him talking to me and a friend about the culture and the country, this was truly a memorable moment. I may not make it to Africa just yet, but at least I can get close by visiting this spot. I ordered the Oxtail, which came with jollof rice, steamed cabbage, and plantains. I also ordered the Okra soup which came with Fufu. Don’t forget to wash this deliciousness down with a passion fruit juice, house made. The pictures don’t do this restaurant any Justice. Please go and support this local business! If you can dine in, please do so. I will definitely be visiting a few times a month, it’s worth it. Please don’t go here expecting your food to come out in 15 minutes, good food takes time to cook, enjoy the experience. Please ignore the comments of people talking about prices, this is a new business, and if you shop in a grocery store, you know that nothing is cheap. Everything was priced accordingly.

Walked in and was greeted joyfully by a beautiful Africian lady who took our order. We were seated and then greeted by a man name Steward who told us his history…. so interesting.

A good portion of food and great flavor. The beef was a little dry so that was disappointing but aside from that it was good and I would return. The gentleman who took my order was very nice and kept checking on it for me since it did take a while for a take-out order.

I’m so glad I found an authentic African restaurant! The food is delicious! I’ve tried 3 different dishes and all 3 were really good but also really pricey! I spent over $50 for three plate. I have mixed feelings about the customer service because the 1st two times I went, I was greeted and helped by an older African man (he was great). The last couple times I went, it was a woman that came out the kitchen to try and up-sale me other menu items. I was displeased with her approach. I’m unsure about going back but at least my 1st couple visits were good. #DoBetter
