A funny story because my girlfriend was looking up restaurants that she and I can both eat at because I am vegan. Island Cuisine popped up as a first recommendation. The first picture she saw she exclaimed, “they have sauerkraut, we are going!” We get there and no sauerkraut to be found but a great atmosphere, great staff and chef, and the food was phenomenal. The chef asked if we needed recommendations (probably because we were confused about sauerkraut) and when I asked for a vegan recommendation he suggested the Japanese eggplant. I paired it with their garlic rice. The flavors this chef was able to bring to the table made me feel like I was on an island. Definitely recommend!

I commute to the Winston area from Concord to work and to occasionally see my friend who lives there and I always pick to eat here as my first choice. It’s hard to find good and authentic filipino food anywhere and I’m glad I found this place. If service is slow that is just because the food is fresh which is worth the wait. The owner is always nice and friendly.

Was so excited to try Filipino food, unfortunately I was disappointed. There is a long wait which did not disappoint me too much because I understand everyone is short staffed right now. However I did not enjoy the taste of my food. Maybe it’s just not my preference. I was also disappointed that i only got a spoonful of garlic rice especially since I paid extra for it. Also not a lot of oxtail in my meal. Not sure I’ll come back.

It had been too long since I had Filipino cooking, so I was eager to give Island Cuisine a try. It didn’t disappoint though there is room for improvement in a few areas.

My boyfriend and I came here for the first time and had Lechon Kawali. It was fantastic!! The garlic rice especially is incredible! Can’t forgot to mention how sweet the workers here are. Will definitely be back!

If you love pork, you have to try their pork dishes. I’ve posted pix of lechon kawali and grilled pork.

I am Filipino and I love eating any dish but this place was just not it. Every-time that I’ve tried filipino food I love it so so much. But this place was not good at all. Everything tasted old and nothing like how Filipinos make it. Was absolutely disappointed with this place especially as a Filipino myself was not happy with it. Do not recommend this place.

I read the reviews and the pics of the food looked so yummy!! I ordered the Vegetable lumpia and lechon kawali. The vegetable lumpia was good, and it’s fried egg rolls with vegetables inside. The sauce that came with it has a very strong vinegar taste, which I don’t like. I’m not a big fan of vinegar. The lechon kawali was good, but some pieces were way over fried that made it harder than it should. The pork belly was a little too fried that, it tasted good if I eat the entire piece at once, nit biting the skin, fat and meat separately. In some pieces, the meat portion was a little dry. Overall, it was good. I didn’t expect this restaurant is a fast food style restaurant. For fast food, it’s good. I would come back and try other dishes if I’m in the area again. The young lady at the counter was very polite and helpful…. I just microwaved the leftover. The pork belly tasted better. It’s softer.
