Well, this is by far the best authentic Indian restaurant in downtown. I am here for a week for business and have tried this place couple times within a week and its great. I plan on going there few more times before I head back home; will update the review should I encounter negative experience. But as I stated above, food & service is great.

I have been in US for 12 years and my experience told me that the food I ordered would be on my table within 15~20 minutes. I was shocked when my food did not turn up even after 35 minutes of waiting! When the food finally arrived 40 minutes after I ordered and I started eating, I then realized what I had been missing in Indian restaurant food all these years. The food is beyond compare to most “Indian” restaurants which are across USA. I can now safely tell that most restaurants that call themselves Indian are fake. All they have done is come up with a very good way of simplifying the actual recipe so they can prepare some part of the food in advance and keep it in freezers for weeks. To be honest India food is complicated, most of the dishes take really long time to prepare, if done correctly. India Palace @ Downtown St Louis is one of the very few places who takes their time to prepare the food correctly and the results are outstanding. If don’t visit this restaurant while in St Louis and like India food, I think you are definitely missing something.

My boyfriend and I come here on a weekly, if not biweekly basis. The wait staff is very friendly and accomodating and we love their food as it has many options for both the vegetarian and carnivore alike. Every meal has been on point and we have yet to leave dissapointed. If you haven’t tried India Palace yet I highly recommend it!

This has been my go-to Indian takeout restaurant. I haven’t had a chance to dine-in here, so I can’t speak to their service, but their Kashmiri naan is absolutely amazing blend of salty nuts and sweet fruits. My girlfriend can’t get enough of their Chicken Tikka Masala (so she doesn’t order anything else), but I’m on a quest to try at least everything on the menu once. So far, I’ve really enjoyed the Lamb Saag and Lamb Curry. Their foods come out with a very tolerable spiciness when mild. They also have an option to make it spicy, as well.

We went there with some friends two nights ago and we really enjoyed the food. The saag was great, also the chicken tikka masala and the naan. It was well served, the staff is friendly and the place is ok. I actually came back the next day for the lunch buffet and enjoyed once again the great subjis.

Just because this is in downtown with no competitors makes them think they could do whatever they want. Lunch buffet is horrible and they don’t refill until the items are completed and atleast five to ten customers asked for it. Nothing is tasty on lunch buffet(Naa are not eatable because they are too fat, curries are blunt with no spices and taste, gulab jamun is never cooked, rice pudding is never available to eat). And if we go to alacarte menu, everything over priced for the quality of food they give you. I gave one star for their mango lassi only and nothing else

Really pleased with House of India’s menu and service. It’s a great place to go if you’re looking for Indian — downtown or otherwise. The staff was friendly in my experience, too. Highly recommended!

Not your best Indian option downtown, at least for the buffet – missing the go to stuff you’re expecting for what looks like cheaper options.
