Visited India Oven for dinner and was met with a delightful culinary experience. The Daal soup was a revelation – rich and concentrated with an infusion of fresh herbs that struck a harmonious balance. The Chicken Vindaloo was equally captivating, offering a depth of flavor that truly tantalized the palate. The chicken itself was meticulously trimmed and had a tenderness to it, allowing for a spoon-cut softness that’s rare to find. The Naan was a textbook example of how it should be – crispy on the outside, while maintaining a chewy softness inside.

The food is amazing. You can tell it is made from scratch and love. Just amazing. The couple are so sweet and honestly they work so hard, I wanted to help out just because I appreciate their hard work, kindness, and the amazing food. Talk about being willing to work for food. It was my first time here and oh my goodness, so fresh, different options than other Indian restaurants, and the love, you taste it in the food. Highly highly recommend. Just come with patience. It is a couple doing all of it because they are having a hard time finding staff.

One of my favorite restaurants in Portland. The food is fantastic. After trying almost everything on the menu I almost always get the Chicken Makhani now.

Ordered some Naan and a couple dishes to go. Food was excellent with wonderful flavors. No cucumbers so we couldn’t order the salad.

My first visit to India Oven took place a few days ago, and I am looking forward to coming back to this review in a year after I’ve been there another dozen times (at least). The quality of food and perfect spices blew me away. Properly made garlic naan, massive samosas, and a vindaloo that rivals any I’ve had in my life. There’s quite a bit of good Indian cuisine in Portland but if you were like me and hadn’t visited this restaurant yet, you’re missing out.

I never give low ratings and bad reviews but the attitude of owner and the quality of food is bad.

The food is excellent! Every ingredient tastes fresh and home-kitchen prepared. A friend and I decided to try on a whim and we both agreed that it was the best Indian cuisine we had ever had-and we have a tradition of trying Indian restaurants together. The curry is NOT that oily, thick, “from a can” goop that I have had in other places. Instead, it is a translucent slow simmered sauce with fresh herbs and spices. The hosts are wonderful. The restaurant staff are doing their best to protect themselves from Covid. Please be respectful and understanding when you visit: there’s a table for guests to get their own utensils and water. Just go with the flow and you will not regret visiting because the flavors are delightful!

The best Indian food in portland! You see the food being cooked, and it’s cooked by the gracious owner of the place. It does take a while to get your food, but that’s because they start making your food from scratch right when you order it. I would recommend going here when you don’t have plans afterwards.
