Sichuan Cuisine
Sichuan cuisine is one of the four major cuisines in China, named after
its origin in the ancient Sichuan (including today’s Chongqing City) and
Guizhou region. It is famous for the bold flavors that are pungent, spicy,
refreshing and aromatic all at the same time.
Among the entire restaurant industry in China, Sichuan cuisine is
ranked first in the country for not only its massive influence, but also the sheer
number of restaurants shaped in this style of cooking.
The first appearance of Sichuan cuisine could be dating back to the Qin
and Han dynasties, having developed into various genres in the Song dynasty,
by which time its influence had reached the Central Plains of China.

Really great Chinese Cuisine- NOT your average China Town. The Meat Dumplings tasted so fresh and the meat was good quality. The soy sauce they use is not overly salty and has a sweet tang to it (different than the soy sauce you buy at the grocery store). Portions are generous and on meat based dishes ample protein helpings. The service is okay. The food came out quickly. The food was not overly salty which I very much appreciated.

This is one of the few Szechuan style restaurants that everyone who comes to study or work in Madison should try at least once. Huge portions and countless dishes. Look at the picture of the two dishes I ordered and you will see how much meat they give you. From shareable plates to chinese-american classics, this restaurant has it all. Vegetable dishes are fine, but the meat dishes are bold in both flavor and presentation. This is one of the few spots in Madison which has stayed consistent throughout the years. If you don’t know what to order, order one of the dishes with a menu picture, a lot of the pictures are popular dishes and you cannot go wrong. They also always have featured dishes written on the chalkboard which are great choices if you are looking to try something new. The bathrooms are not the cleanest, but fine if you want to just wash your hands. Free street parking and always open.

Definitely our favorite Chinese restaurant in Madison. Have very authentic Chinese food and Chinese American food. We always order the Green onion pancakes. We love the stir fry green beans and spicy fish and many other dishes… Not recommend the vegetarian tofu since the tofu was flavorless and hard to chew. The noodles in the beef noodle soup was a bit overcooked this time. If you’re seeking for authentic Chinese food, then it’s a place must try.

Good food that comes out fast and hot. Real Sichuan – not Chinese American. Try the spicy crispy chicken, the pan fried dumplings, and the spicy green beans. We also love the spicy sliced fish and tofu. There’s is often a whole steamed fish with glass noodles that is very good. Thai iced tea is refreshing. They’re able to accommodate large parties quite easily, so it’s a great place to take a crowd.

We ordered the spicy and sour sliced potatoes and pickled cabbage fish soup. Both are awesome. In addition, we have tried similar sliced potatoes at different places, like California or Minnesota. This one here is the best one among all. A must try for those who like potatoes

Overly extensive menu that doesn’t need to be, traditional Americans appreciate the basics and like the ease of finding those basics, unfortunately it is overly elaborate, totally unnecessary and nothing truly traditional, us non-Asian Americans can appreciate, they need to simplify and get back to basics offer extensions but don’t make them the focal point, there is hope, hopefully. The menu was so confusing we simply left and went up the road to la hacienda and boring bland tasteless Mexican, does anyone pay attention anymore in this world or is everybody 80%ers?

Awesome food. We came in at about 9:30 one night and they didn’t mind that they closed in 15 minutes. They let us enjoy our meal and everything was hot and fresh. One of the best spots in the city.
