Had the family dinner for 3 meal. Came with 2 wonton and a egg rolls per person. Got the mandarin meal, which came with 3 courses and rice. As well as egg drop soup. Got a side order of hot and sour soup. Both were phenomenal!!!! Are waitress was friendly and attentive. Overall experience for price and food made this a 10/10!

We visited quite late when there were only a few diners. The food we received was fresh. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. My wife commented the egg drop soup was excellent. The sesame tofu was extremely crispy without being burnt, which we really enjoyed. We all enjoyed their food, even my picky son, who went with beef lo mein and egg fried rice.

I have been coming here since I was a kid. Best egg rolls, crab rangoons and egg drop soup in town by far. The inside of the restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing as well. Wish they still had their buffet. Let’s start a petition to bring it back

Tastes like old oil. Brought us out cold crab Rangoon 2 minutes after we ordered, clearly just sitting around. Got orange chicken thinking they couldn’t screw that up. Ingendients couldn’t have been cheaper or lower quality if they tried. Chicken was shaved and fried. Overall, going to go get ice cream to get the taste of old oil out I’d my mouth

This is fake Chinese food. I had sesame chicken and my husband had the house special delight. The sad part is the children that took our order was convinced that this is how Chinese food is supposed to taste. The menu prices were wrong and my husband and I threw up. I Pray these misled youngsters get out into the world and discover what Chinese food is really all about.

The food is shameful. I ordered pork egg foo yung and my wife ordered cashew chicken – nothing exotic – which came with fried rice, egg drop soup and fried wontons. The egg drop soup was full of raw onions, was gelatinous, grey and overly salted. I couldn’t find the eggs. When our entrees arrived, I was surprised to see that they looked identical – some kind of gray meat with vegetables in a greasy brown sauce. I thought there’d been a mistake, but underneath my pile of stuff was one egg foo yung omelette about 4 inches in diameter and obviously pre-made. My wife’s dish had 6 cashews placed on top of the meat/veggie combo, so I guess that constituted “cashew chicken”. Both dishes tasted like pure salt – nothing more. There was absolutely no flavor. The “fried rice” consisted of white rice (appeared to be instant) with a few peas mixed in and again, a ton of salt. The fried wonton contained no meat (probably fortunate) and tasted like old vegetable oil. The omelette had no meat or veggies – just eggs and just as flavorless, except for lots of salt. Finally, the server came to the table a few minutes after bringing our food and told us that she was leaving – that if we needed anything, we could go “up front” and talk with the hostess. After I complained, the hostess took 10% off our bill. I wouldn’t eat here again even if they gave the food away for free.

I try to like this place, but something just seems off. The drinks are good, the staff is wonderful and friendly. But the food is just “eh.” It’s an Iowa version of Chinese. Other guests during my visit seemed to enjoy what they ordered. If you’re looking for bland and “just ok” Chinese food, House Of China is your place..
