Founded in 2020, Hot Texas Grills has come a long way from our beginnings cooking in barbecue competitions around the state. Over the years our passion for cooking and making people happy by serving up great food inspired us to make the leap when the opportunity presented itself to open a food truck (okay, it’s a trailer). Now we serve customers at the Moontower Saloon in South Austin, and we are thrilled to be a part of the food truck industry in our local community.

This place had hands down the best brisket I’ve ever had in my life, and I’ve been eating brisket in Texas for over 60 years! The turkey, sausage, jalapeño mashed potatoes, macaroni, and cheese. Everything was truly wonderful. This was my first time to ever eat there, and I’ll definitely go back! The stuff was great all the way around my family was definitely impressed 🙂

Honestly the only good thing about this place is it’s at Moontower Saloon and if you’ve been drinking enough MAYBE it will taste ok. You’ll pay 15 dollars for a burger that is cafeteria quality at best. You’d do better to go get a fast food meal. Sad, I feel like there used to be good food trucks here. Like most aspects of Austin, people are cutting corners everywhere they can and hoping no one notices. I don’t leave many reviews but this was truly substandard.

We recently had my sons graduation at Moon Tower where HTG catered. They were really easy to work with and affordable. They even had a kids menu for us. The food was amazing, I got compliment after compliment from our guests. I would highly recommend using them.

Hands down best bbq nachos I’ve ever had (I’m from memphis). Staff was incredibly nice and tried to give away a 5lb boat of nachos for free after the machine malfunctioned. I will be coming back tomorrow. Phenomenal bbq. Pleas come try

Went on a Sunday afternoon, around 2pm, Moontower wasn’t busy and there was 1 person in line for food ahead of me. Went to order a buffalo chicken quesadilla and was told they were out of chicken. Ok, that’s frustrating but fine. Strike 1. I picked the bbq sliders for myself and a BLT for my wife. About 15 minutes later went back to see if my food was ready and they said they were backed up and not yet. Went up 10 minutes later and they said it still wasn’t ready about would be another 5 minutes. Stood waiting there for an additional 15 minutes for a total of about 40 minutes until I received our order. Strike 2. Went and sat down and our food was cold. I was standing next to the widow when they called my order number, there wasn’t much time for the food to sit and “get cold”. The bbq pork was a little dried out and lacked any real flavor. My wife said her BLT was $5 too expensive (price was $7.50) and wasn’t that good. Strike 3. A group member stated they waited 30 minutes for an order of tacos as well. Really disappointed that the food didn’t live up to expectations as the pictures online and on instagram looked delicious. Won’t be coming back.
