Honey Bee Cafe is our new favorite breakfast stop! The prices were reasonable, the service was fast and the food was great! After reading other reviews we decided to give them a try, and we were so glad we did! When we pulled up the lot was packed so we parked at the salon lot next door. We had our doubts on how long it would take to get a table but we were sat immediately. Our waitress came by within 1 minute to get our order. We ordered orange juice and did not realize until we were leaving that it was freshly squeezed! It was so good! Our food arrived within minutes and was better than we anticipated. We are definitely going back! Thank you, Honey Bee Cafe for the great experience!

Have stopped in the past two days for breakfast. Even when extremely busy there is no waiting for your food. Eggs cooked to perfection, ham off the bone was so tasty. Avocado toast with the Pico is the absolute best I’ve ever had. Service is fantastic, the restaurant is super clean.

Stopped in today for the 1st time. I ordered the hash stack, it was good. I was not crazy about the sausage used. It was pretty burnt on one side, but the flavor just wasn’t something I personally liked. I would definitely order it again sans sausage. It came with cinnamon bread and when I say order it, I mean ORDER IT! The bread was so good and I could have made that my meal and been completely happy Our waitress said they sale it by the loaf but $10 seems pricey so I sadly didn’t bring any home and now I regret it! If you are not a fan of the liquid butter they use on toast order it without because that was the only downside to the bread. Planning to make this a breakfast or lunch stop next time I’m back in town.

A place that serves gravy is only as good as the gravy. Their gravy was out of a packet. Whatever thats fine. But theres hardly any sausage or grease in it. So bland you could barely taste it. No reason why they cant grease it up a bit. And the biscuits were just abysmal. Tough and flavorless. Everything else was…. fine. But serve good greasey gravy or dont serve it at all.

There wasn’t anything glaringly wrong. Everything was just kind of underwhelming. Our waitress was pleasant but a bit distracted. I ordered salad and had to ask twice for dressing, and they never did find the vinaigrette. We just kind of wished we had waited and ate at home.

I spoke to the owner because I have dietary restrictions and she informed me their food is cooked in non-dairy oil, if that matters to you. As a gluten free vegan, I had the veggie skillet with no eggs, meat, or cheese and it was quite tasty with a bit of ketchup on top. I will definitely be back!

I wasn’t sure what to expect here… wasn’t much to look at from the outside. The inside was very clean and decorated nicely! I can also tell you, service and food were phenomenal! In a world of instant gratification and everything being cooked out of a bag, it tasted like everything was HOME cooked and from scratch! Wow! Also, Minka was an awesome waitress! Very quick and attentive! If you’re looking for breakfast in Mattoon… this IS the place! I didn’t get to experience lunch or supper, but it’s probably wonderful too!

Stopped here for dessert after dinner hours. Can’t say anything about the entrees since we didn’t have any, but the pie and the cake were both very good. I had the peanut butter pie and it was a big portion for what I paid. Very rich and decadent.
