Food was amazing. Chicken was tender and falling off the bone. Mac and cheese on point and hushpuppies had just the right amount of sweetness. I also had blackeyed peas which were delicious. The staff was very accommodating and they had nice country charm. I felt welcomed and would definitely come back if I’m on this side of town.

Home Plate is an excellent lunch or dinner choice. Just like the name states,it’s like u are getting a plate from home. The servers are very friendly. I try to stop every time I’m in the area.

If you want good old southern cooking at a reasonable price this is the place to go. They offer daily specials plus plenty of sides. Comfortable seating inside, also has a drive-thru. I usually get the fish and a couple sides and everything is great. They’re open for lunch and dinner so plenty of opportunities to eat. Must give it a try…

If you live in Durham, and haven’t come to Home Plate you are wasting your life. I worked this area years ago and it was always a favorite. It’s been at least 3 yrs since I was last here and they have not missed a beat. Pork chops and fish are the go to. 10 out of 10 you won’t regret it and if you do……something is wrong with you.

The food is good but limited. I’m a huge chicken salad fan but they put WAY to many pickles I’m the chicken salad and potato salad for my liking. But , to each their own. I’ve been here several times and will most likely go back several more times. It’s a restaurant for everyone. You’ll see truckers , folks coming from church , kids to grandparents , etc. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a good sized plate for a real decent price.

This is the best comfort food in Durham. It’s down home country food, that your family has cooked for years. My favorites are the fish, and the pork chops. The staff members are friendly and will assist you with food options. The atmosphere is cozy and accommodating.

I’ve been coming here for about a year now since it’s close to my new job. The staff is friendly and kind. The restaurant is clean and had a 99.5 for a sanitation grade which is extremely hard to get. My reason for the 4 star review is, since I’ve been coming here the amount of food given continues to get smaller and smaller. Today I got chicken and dumplings and dude didn’t even give me a full scoop. This also depends on who the worker is. Some are more generous than others.
