We were passing through on our way to Georgia. We stopped at Hickory House for lunch. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my wife had the brisket plate. The pulled pork was excellent and the brisket just melted in your mouth. I wish I lived close to Wytheville because I would eat there all the time.

Ate here today for the 4th of July celebration. We love trying new bbq restaurants and truly can say this is the worst one we have been too. Our corn nuggets was still froze in the middle and the Mac n cheese was literal pasta in a water consistency sauce. The Mac and cheese made the wrap into a soggy mess and couldn’t even eat it. 90 percent of our food was left to be thrown away because it was that bad.

Looking at the first view of the mac and cheese, I was pretty sad. But after eating it I had a change of heart… some how as basic as it looks it was incredibly good, taste the cheese. Then I moved to the brisket…. Very tender and exactly what I wanted.

Went in to eat to pass some time till show we was going to see. I ordered half rack of ribs. Came out looking like a 1/3 rack. Wanted jalapeno poppers they was out. So I ordered hush puppies and potatoe salad. Sorry we’re out. So I picked home made chips sorry we’re out of that to. Only thing in sides you could get was baked beans and Mac and cheese. So that’s the sides he ordered. They must have run out of Mac and cheese hot he got two servings of baked beans. Yet with all this stuff they was out of our bill still hit $40. At most $25 -$30 would have been stretching it for what you got. Btw it’s inside of a plug had station no inside facilities have to go out side down around corner. I’ll never go back. Why couldn’t they run to store buy potatoes or buy potatoe salad? We got there at 5pm Saturday evening. They don’t close till 7 or 8. They should have closed sooner. Couple came in behind them ordered Coke but was told they had Pepsi products. He asked for Mt Dew guess what they was out. He was offered sweet tea he said only if it’s good. Of course he was told yes. But I got tea myself. Nothing to write home about.

This BBQ place was everything we were looking for when we were on vacation! The atmosphere was fun and the food was amazing. The service was super quick and we got everything we ordered. The server was super friendly and warm. We got the BBQ plates with hush puppies and two sides and the food was hot and delicious. I highly recommend checking this place out if you want quality BBQ!
