Herban Market is a cafe created by people who love food and people. We have an artisanal bakery offering everything from traditionally crafted pastries/desserts, along with vegan and gluten free options, everything being made from scratch in house.
Our Cafe specializes in Vegetarian and Vegan fare, focusing on using the freshest ingredients available as well as locally sourced when possible.
Our Juice and Smoothie bar uses all organic fruits and veggies, and our coffee is locally roasted with organic fair trade beans.
We have indoor bar seating as well as a covered porch that is perfect for gathering with family and friends with a pristine view of the Beaufort river.

Among the most enjoyable cappuccino experiences I’ve had in a few years. I say “experience” because the very, very good almond-milk cappuccino (balanced, smooth, low-acid, creamy, yummy) was enhanced by an unusually kind server, a welcoming owner, a lovely outdoor seating area, and almost perfectly prepared croissants (ham and cheese, chocolate). The vegan/vegetarian options are a level of quality that even non-vegans/vegetarians could happily order something they would enjoy. When I took a bite of my gluten-free ginger molasses cookie, my thought was not, “This is good for a gluten-free cookie,” but, “This cookie is SO good!”

I happened to be in Beaufort and found this market. Gluten free deliciousness. I had the Herban Zen Iced Tea. The turmeric, black pepper, ginger combination was delightful. For lunch, I had the tuna salad and to top it all off I had an avocado brownie. I splurged, but it’s not often I get to eat dessert. The staff was great and helpful. I sat outside with a view of the water. I will be back next time I have a moment to myself.

I might come back and give this place another shot, but my first experience eating here was just OK. Positives are that the food was definitely fresh, lovely plating, generous portions, quality ingredients for sure, but the overall meal was less than exciting. Lacked spice, honestly. I can’t remember what we ordered, or what it was called (which perhaps is never a good sign) but we have a photo and you can see it was colorful and nutritious, and that’s great! The pastries, however! Those deserve a special nod. They were lovely and delicious. Really great pastries. I don’t know of anywhere else in Beaufort where you can get Kouign-amann. Teetering on a 4 star but waiting for the food to excite me a bit more.

Wonderful spot with a view of the water on their outside patio. Also a covered outside area which is nice. I got their vegan veggie wrap and it was absolutely delicious! My mom had the power salad and loved it (was huge—she couldn’t finish it!)
